The National Investigation Agency (NIA) on Wednesday issued a public appeal for information regarding the recent terror attack in Pahalgam, Jammu and Kashmir, on April 22, 2025, which resulted in the deaths of 26 tourists.

In light of Operation Sindoor, Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath has ordered the DGP UP to ensure the safety of the state's citizens and protect all the critical infrastructure and vital installations, as per the ANI report.
In response, UP DGP Prashant Kumar has issued several directives to all districts, commissionerates, and police units. These include securing critical infrastructure and key installations, tightening access controls at important sites, and increasing police presence in communally sensitive areas.

AIMPLB member Maulana Khalid Rasheed Firangi Mahali, reacted to 'Operation Sindoor' in Pakistan, saying, "I want to congratulate the Indian armed forces. The country has given a big message, after the Pahalgam attack, everyone was waiting for a befitting reply. Soon after IAF executed 'Operation Sindoor', Pakistan claimed that it shot down five Indian fighter jets. "So far, I can confirm that five Indian aircraft — including three Rafale, one SU-30 and one MiG-29 — and one Heron drone have also been shot down,” Pakistan military spokesperson Lt-Gen Ahmed Sharif Chaudhary was quoted as saying by Reuters.

India-Pakistan relations have tanked to a new low in the past few years after the April 22 terror attacks. On Wednesday, India launched co-ordinated airstrikes against nine terror camps in Pakistan and Pakistan-Occupied Kashmir.
- At least 8 casualties occurred in the airstrikes, confirmed Pakistan.
- The Centre said the attacks were "focused, measured and non-escalatory".
- Pakistan confirmed that three locations have been hit by Indian forces. According to Pakistani Foreign Minister Muhammad Ishaq Dar, the strikes claimed the lives of eight civilians and injured 35.
- Pakistan also said that it will hit back at India "at a time and place of its choosing".
- Senior officials in India briefed their counterparts in a number of countries on the steps taken by New Delhi. Among these are the US, the UK, Saudi Arabia, the UAE and Russia.
- Following the attacks, the government scheduled around 10:30 am a press briefing on the attack.
- A tri-services briefing has also been scheduled today.
- US State Secretary Marco Rubio spoke to national security advisers from India and Pakistan and urged both countries to keep lines of communication open and avoid escalation.
- Israel has assured support to India in the fight against terrorism from Pakistan.
- Pakistan's all-weather friend, China, called India's reaction "regrettable" and urged both nations to strive for stability in the region.
The chiefs of the three armed forces will address the media shortly. Foreign Secretary Vikram Misri along with officials from the Ministry of Foreign Affairs will also be present.
A "red alert" has been sounded in Uttar Pradesh, says the Director General of Police. "All UP Police field formations have been instructed to coordinate with Defence units and strengthen the security of vital installations," the DGP says.

A Pakistani artillery shell landed just outside the UN field station in Poonch. There were no reports of any casualties.
Telangana Chief Minister Revanth Reddy has called an Emergency Meeting at 11 am with all officials concerned. The meeting will be held at the Integrated Command and Control Centre (ICCC) in Hyderabad to review all security preparations post Operation Sindoor, says the Chief Minister's Office.
Reddy will personally review the situation on war-footing and ensure security, safety and ensure total vigilance in Hyderabad, and all cities, towns and villages across Telangana, the CMO states.
Father of Syed Adil Hussain Shah, the pony operator who died in the Pahalgam terrorist attack, welcomes the Indian Army's move.
" We are delighted that killing of those 26 Pahalgam victims including my son, has been avenged," says Hyder Shah.

Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister of the United Arab Emirates, Abdullah bin Zayed al Nahyan has called for restraint between India and Pakistan. As per UAE MOFA, the UAE Foreign Minister gave a call to India and Pakistan to "exercise restraint, de-escalate tensions, and avoid further escalation that could threaten regional and international peace". He gave a call for dialogue and mutual understanding to prevent military escalation, strengthen stability in South Asia, and avoid further regional tensions.
Congress president Mallikarjun Kharge applauds the move by armed forces saying India has unflinching National Policy against all forms of terrorism. "India has an unflinching National Policy against all forms of terrorism emanating from Pakistan and PoK. We are extremely proud of our Indian Armed Forces who have stuck terror camps in Pakistan and PoK. We applaud their resolute resolve and courage," Kharge says in a post on X.
"Since the day of the Pahalgam Terror Attack, the Indian National Congress has categorically stood with the Armed Forces and the Government to take any decisive action against cross border terror," he says.
"National Unity and solidarity is the need of the hour and the Indian National Congress stands with our Armed Forces. Our leaders have shown the path in past, and National Interest is supreme for us," Kharge adds.
A meeting of the Union Cabinet will be held at 11 am today after the military strikes by India on Pakistan's terrorist bases.
