Rajasthan Deputy Chief Minister Sachin Pilot on Friday launched a scathing attack on the central government accusing it of having failed to chalk out a decent policy to relieve migrants' distress during the COVID-19 pandemic.
Andhra Pradesh reported 62 new cases that were detected in the 24 hours ending 10 a.m., Friday. he coronavirus cases count in the national capital witnessed a record jump of 660 in a day, taking the total tally to 12,319 and the death tally has reached 208, the Delhi Health Department said on Friday.

Out of the total cases, 6,214 were active, it said.

As per the Delhi Health reports, 14 new deaths were added in the tally taking the total COVID toll in the national capital to 208.

The report said that the cumulative death figures refer to fatalities where primary cause of death was found to be the infection, as per the report of the Death Audit Committee on the basis of case sheets received from various hospitals.

Reserve Bank Governor Shaktikanta Das on Friday extended the moratorium on payment of loans by another three months till August to provide much-needed relief to borrowers whose income has been hit due to the coronavirus crisis. In March, the central bank had allowed a three-month moratorium on payment of all term loans due between March 1, 2020, and May 31, 2020.

Accordingly, the repayment schedule and all subsequent due dates, as also the tenor for such loans, were shifted across the board by three months.

233 fresh corona cases per day in MP in one week



For the eighth successive day a high number of fresh coronavirus cases continued to swamp Madhya Pradesh. Thursdays 248 cases took the state's tally to 5981. The average of positive cases through the past eight days has been 233.

Indore reported 59 fresh cases onThursday taking its total to 2774 while the death toll in the district is 105. The state's toll has risen to 266.

Ujjain (61),Bhopal (27), Burhanpur (12) Khandwa (22),Morena (14) and Rewa (11) were other towns with a high number of new cases.

Uttar Pradesh on Thursday reported 341 new Covid-19 cases, recording the highest single-day spike so far, taking the states coronavirus tally to 5,515. As many 138 persons have succumbed to the dreaded virus till now.




Of the new cases that surfaced on Thursday, Budaun reported 17 cases, followed by Jaunpur (16), Ayodhya (11) and Maharajganj (7). Majority of the new patients were migrant workers who had recently returned from Maharashtra.

In Maharashtra, coronavirus cases climbed to 39,297, followed by Tamil Nadu with 13,191 cases and Gujarat with 12,537 cases so far.

Maharashtra has the highest number of deaths at 1,390, followed by Gujarat's 749 and Madhya Pradesh's 267.

In Delhi, the total tally rose to 11,088.

States with more than 5,000 cases each are Rajasthan (6,015), Madhya Pradesh (5,735) and Uttar Pradesh (5,175).

Train Service Within Karnataka To Resume From Friday



In yet another sign of normalcy returning soon, the South Western Railway (SWR) zone is resuming passenger train services only within Karnataka from Friday, an official said on Wednesday.

"The Ministry of Railways has approved state Chief Minister B.S. Yediyurappa's request to resume intra-state train services, including suburban across the southern state to enable citizens travel within Karnataka after being stranded for over 55 days due to extended lockdown," a zonal official said in a statement here.




Though passenger services across the state and country remained suspended since the lockdown was enforced on March 25 and extended it four times up to May 31 to contain the coronavirus spread, the railways has been operating freight and parcel services since April first week to ensure essential supplies and movement of goods across the country.

Bike taxi booking app Rapido resumes operations in 35 cities



Bike-taxi service provider Rapido on Wednesday said it has resumed normal operations in over 35 cities across 11 states, following the new guidelines announced by the government for lockdown 4.0.

"For now, our bike taxi services will be operational in the green and orange zones as the services cannot be extended to the containment zones as per the lockdown guidelines," the company said in a statement.

A day after the Uttar Pradesh government announced relaxations in the nationwide lockdown 4.0, Gautam Budh Nagar District Magistrate Suhas L.Y. on Tuesday said that the district's border with Delhi will remain "sealed" for now.

Suhas L.Y. said that status quo shall be maintained between Delhi-Noida border for now.

He said, we have sought instructions from state government as regards to implementation of Point 3(1) and 7(12) of GO of Home department.

The district had sealed its border with Delhi in April after several novel coronavirus (COVID-19) cases in Gautam Budh Nagar were found to have links with Delhi.

States with highest infections



In Maharashtra, coronavirus cases climbed to 3,37,136, followed by Tamil Nadu with 12,448 cases and Gujarat with 12,140 cases so far.



Maharashtra has the highest number of deaths at 1,249, followed by Gujarat's 719 and Madhya Pradesh's 258.

In Delhi, the total tally rose to 10,554.

States with more than 4,000 cases each are Rajasthan (5,845), Madhya Pradesh (5,465) and Uttar Pradesh (4,926).

Other major states and Union Territories that have reported more than 1,000 cases each are West Bengal (2,961), Andhra Pradesh (2,532), Punjab (2,002), Telangana (1,634), Bihar (1,498), Jammu and Kashmir (1,317), and Karnataka (1,397).

UP policeman suspended for making men roll on road



A policeman has been suspended and action recommended against a home guard for allegedly making two men roll on the road because they were not wearing masks.

A video clip of the incident in which the policemen are making the two men roll on a railway crossing has gone viral on the social media.

The home guard gestures at them with his baton to continue rolling from one side to the other and goes on to hit one of them in the back for stopping. The policeman stands at some distance, watching. And a train passes by while all this is happening.

Will crack down now on parking, lane violations: Delhi Traffic Police



The Delhi Traffic Police on Tuesday said it will be prioritising action against improper parking and lane violations in the coming weeks to decongest roads and make them safer.



Since the lockdown, the Delhi Traffic Police has issued over one lakh notices through SMS for compoundable offences captured on camera.



"The Delhi Traffic Police would be prioritising action against improper parking and lane violation during driving in the coming weeks to decongest driving space on the road and to make road driving more safe," an official statement said.

It said that during the lockdown period -- between March 25 and May 17 -- the Delhi Traffic Police has immediately shifted its strategy from physical traffic enforcement to electronic enforcement in order to protect the health of police personnel and public.
Movement of individuals shall remain strictly prohibited in Jharkhand between 7pm to 7am, except for essential activities. Local authorities shall issue orders under appropriate provisions of law to ensure strict compliance: Jharkhand Government

Sixty-two days after the state's first death was notched in Mumbai on March 17, the city's toll touched 800 with 43 new Covid-19 fatalities, officials said on Tuesday. The Gautam Buddha Nagar in UP witnessed three new Covid-19 cases and 13 patients were discharged on Tuesday. One of the persons who tested positive was a contact of a Covid-19 patient, while the two others are a couple. They have been admitted in the Government Institute of Medical Sciences, Noida.




Of the 289 cases in the district, 207 have recovered and discharged, five have succumbed to the disease and 77 are infected.

The Lucknow police have registered a case of fraud and forgery against Sandeep Singh, personal secretary to Congress General Secretary Priyanka Gandhi. Sandeep Singh has been booked for furnishing wrong details about the buses arranged by the Congress to carry migrant workers to their destination.




The state government had stated earlier in the day that registration numbers of scooters, goods carriers and ambulances were shown as buses. The case registered at Hazratganj police station also names state Congress President Ajay Kumar Lallu.

Coronavirus In India HIGHLIGHTS: Announcing a slew of relief measures, RBI Governor Shaktikanta Das delivered his third live address amid coronavirus lockdown on Friday. In a relief to borrowers , the government has announced an extension in moratorium for loan repayment till August 31.


In a bid to bring India's economy on track, restrictions of lockdown are gradually being eased across the country. Indian Railways which is already running 20 speacial trains and Sharmik trains, has announced that 200 non AC passenger trains will run from June 1 and booking for the same has been initiated. Similarly, domestic flights will resume on May 25 with new set of guidelines and protocols.


The total number of Coronavirus cases in India has escalated beyond 1 lakh mark. It witnessed highest ever jump in its Covid-19 tally with 6088 new Coronavirus cases, taking India's total to 1,18,447 on Friday the Union Health Ministry stated.


It comes as a worrsiome figure as India eases its lockdown rules across the country as fresh guidlines were issues by the Ministry of Home Afafirs extending the lockdown till May 31st with eased curbs. According to the Ministry, there are 66,330 active cases, 48,533  people have been cured and 3,583  have died so far.
