As India enters the last week of the 54-day lockdown, Prime Minister Narendra Modi will hold a video conference with chief ministers on Monday with the focus expected to be on reviving economy and scaling up all efforts to bring more 'red' zones with high COVID-19 case load into 'orange' or 'green' zones.

The chief ministers of the states and union territories are expected to push for stepping up economic activities in a calibrated manner, as the Centre weighed the pros and cons of further easing of restrictions for a graded exit from the twice extended 54-day coronavirus lockdown due to end on May 17.

Record single day COVID cases spike in Karnataka; 8 spl trains




Karnataka witnessed its highest single day spike of 54 COVID-19 cases on Sunday, taking the tally to 847 as the government announced guidelines for returning stranded people while eight special trains carrying over 9,000 migrant workers and others left the state for different destinations.
All passenger trains will be run with AC coaches only and with limited stoppages. The fare will be equivalent to the ticket fare that is charged for Rajdhani Train: Ministry of Railways (ANI)
According to the Ministry of Railways, booking for reservation in these trains will start at 4 pm on 11 May and will be available only on the IRCTC website.




It will be mandatory for the passengers to wear face cover and undergo screening at departure and only asymptomatic passengers will be allowed to board the train. Further details including train schedule will be issued separately in due course.
Ticket booking counters at railway stations will remain closed and no counter tickets (including platform tickets) will be issued, it said.

387 COVID-19 Patients To Be Discharged From Home Isolation




As many as 387 COVID-19 patients in Gujarat will be discharged from home isolation as per the revised discharge policy issued by the Indian Council of Medical Research (ICMR), Ahmedabad information department said on Sunday.

A total of 7,740 dedicated COVID-19 facilities in 483 districts have been identified, the Union health ministry said on Sunday, asserting that adequate health infrastructure is in place to fight the pandemic.




As on Sunday, 7,740 facilities in 483 districts have been identified in all States/Union Territories that include hospitals and facilities of the State/UT governments as well as the central government, a health ministry statement said.




There are 6,56,769 isolation beds, 3,05,567 beds for confirmed cases, 3,51,204 for suspected cases, 99,492 oxygen-supported beds, 1,696 facilities with oxygen manifold and 34,076 ICU beds, it said.

64 CISF men under COVID-19 grip till Sunday



With fresh 18 coronavirus positive cases in the CISF, a total of 64 troopers in the paramilitary force have been reported infected with the dreaded disease that have caught over 550 personnel in all Central Armed Police Force (CAPF).

The new cases were reported in the Central Industrial Security Force (CISF) in the last 24 hours.

Of the 64 CISF personnel infected with the virus, 33 are in Mumbai, 22 in Delhi, five in Kolkata and two each in Greater Noida and Ahmedabad.

Railways inept in handling migrant crisis, call Army: Congress



After the tragic train accident in Aurangabad where 16 labourers were crushed to death while they were sleeping on the railway tracks and scores of migrants walking to their native places, the Congress has alleged that the railways has proved to be inept in handling the crisis and demanded multi-nodal agency to tackle it.

Amid political slugfest between the BJP and the Opposition on the issue of migrant workers, the Congress has ceased the opportunity to attack the government.
Kerala: INS Jalashwa carrying 698 Indians from Maldives arrived at Kochi port today. Around 40 KSRTC buses, 50 cars and ambulances are parked outside the Port to take the passengers to different quarantine centers after their medical checkup.
Over 150 migrants sent to Punjab from Delhi


Around 150 migrants from Punjab, who were sheltered at a Delhi government facility in Nehru Vihar amid the coronavirus-induced lockdown, were on Sunday sent to their home state by bus.



In a tweet, Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal's office said the Punjab migrants staying at Sarvodaya Vidyalaya, Nehru Vihar, shelter were medically screened before they left for their homes.

"Migrants from Punjab living in Delhi govt's temporary shelter at Sarvodaya Vidyalaya, Nehru Vihar left for their home towns today morning. They were screened by our medical team and provided with food, masks and sanitiser. God bless them all," the CMO office said.

Odisha reports 3rd COVID-19 death, cases rise to 352



Odisha has reported its third COVID-19 death as a person from the Ganjam district succumbed to the disease, said the health department on Sunday.

However, the department has not revealed the details of the deceased so far.

Odisha also registered a major surge in the number of cases as 58 more persons tested positive for the virus taking the positive cases to 352.

The returnees are increasing the positive numbers in the state. Among the 58 positive cases, 41 persons had returned from Surat.

Total 6,923 Covid cases in Delhi, death toll reaches to 73



With 381 new cases reported in a day, the total count of Covid cases in Delhi reached to 6,923, the Health Department said on Sunday.

Five new deaths were reported in the last 24 hours, taking the death toll to 73, it said.

At least 49 patients recovered, according to the Delhi Health Bulletin released on Sunday.

"The data was compiled from 12 a.m. of May 8 to 12 a.m. of May 9," said the health department.
Delhi CM Arvind Kejriwal : Out of roughly 7000 positive cases in Delhi, approximately 1500 are in hospital. Out of these 1500 in hospital, only 27 are on ventilator. Majority of cases are mild or asymptomatic. Our team is now treating these cases directly at their home. If there is a facility at their home, then they are being quarantine there.

Coronavirus HIGHLIGHTS: Prime Minister Narendra Modi will be holding a video conference with Chief Ministers of all states tomorrow, sources have claimed. The total number of Coronavirus cases in India escalated with 3277 new Covid-19 cases to 62,939 cases and the total countrywide death toll getting past the 2000-mark, as per the latest health update by the Union Health Ministry on Sunday morning. Of the total figure, 41,472 are active cases, 19,357 people have recovered, and 2109 people have lost their lives to the deadly contagion. Among the severaly impacted states, Maharashtra, followed by Gujarat, Delhi and Tamil Nadu remained the chart-topper. In the wake of the severity of infections in the states, the Centre has decided to rush teams to ten worst-hit states.

Maharashtra remained the worst hit state with a total number of cases rising to 20,228, followed by Gujarat which has reported 7796 cases. Delhi has  6542 cases, it is followed by Tamil Nadu which has 6535 cases. Maharashtra has also recorded 779 deaths so far, the highest number of casualties among all the states.

Congress leader Rahul Gandhi on Saturday launched an attack at the Centre over PM-CARES Fund set up to seek financial aid from countrymen to battle Coronavirus. He demanded that Prime Minister Narendra Modi ensured audit of donations made to the PM-CARES Fund, and to share the details and the money spent with the people.
