Union Minister Nitin Gadkari clarifies that no proposal to levy 10 per cent GST on diesel vehicles is under consideration.
"There is an urgent need to clarify media reports suggesting an additional 10% GST on the sale of diesel vehicles. It is essential to clarify that there is no such proposal currently under active consideration by the government," he said.
"In line with our commitments to achieve Carbon Net Zero by 2070 and to reduce air pollution levels caused by hazardous fuels like diesel, as well as the rapid growth in automobile sales, it is imperative to actively embrace cleaner and greener alternative fuels. These fuels should be import substitutes, cost-effective, indigenous, and pollution-free," he added.

Union Transport Minister Nitin Gadkari speaks on his proposed 10% additional GST on diesel vehicles as pollution tax:
"After 2014, 52% of the (number of) diesel vehicles reduced to 18%. Now that the automobile industry is growing, diesel vehicles shouldn't increase. You make decisions at your level so that diesel (vehicle) is reduced. If it wouldn't happen, then I would recommend to the Finance Minister that diesel is creating a lot of pollution so a 10% additional tax should be levied on it."

The names of the candidates will be decided in the meeting of the screening committee for the assembly elections to be held in Madhya Pradesh this evening in Delhi.
The first list of candidates will be released by the last week of September. Kamal Nath, Digvijay Singh, in-charge Randeep Surjewala and Bhanwar Jitendra Singh will be included.

Land For Job Scam Case: CBI has informed Delhi's Rouse Avenue Court that the sanctions against former Union Railway Minister Lalu Prasad Yadav have been obtained from the Home Ministry in relation to a fresh chargesheet in an alleged Land for Job Scam case.
However, the sanctions against the three railway officials are yet to be received, it added. The central agency has submitted that the remaining sanctions are expected to be received within a week
The matter is listed for further hearing on September 21.

An argument over a financial transaction led to violent clashes between two groups in UP's Ghaziabad on Monday night. A Scorpio car belonging to one of the two groups was vandalised in the scuffle.
Swatantra Kumar Singh, ACP Ghaziabadsaid, "Khoda Police Station received information about the scuffle between two men. A person named Afzal had given some money as loan to one Dilawar Malik, which was the cause of the argument. Members from Afzal's group pelted stones on the Scorpio belonging to Dilawar's group. "There was some objectionable comment posted on a social media account of the one suspected person. He was being interrogated at the checkpost when suddenly some youth mob gathered and tried to damage public property. Some vehicles were put on fire. In this incident, some ten people of the group were injured. One succumbed to injuries during this. Offence has been registered under the stringent sections of the IPC. BJP's 'Parivartan Yatra' In Poll-Bound Chhattisgarh To Begin Today
The BJP will roll out its 'Parivartan Yatra' in Chhattisgarh on Tuesday, aiming to cover 87 out of the total 90 assembly constituencies in the poll-bound state to expose the Congress-led government's alleged corruption and highlight the Centre's public welfare schemes and policies.
Union Home Minister Amit Shah will flag off the yatra after offering prayers at Maa Danteshwari temple in Dantewada (south Chhattisgarh) followed by a public rally there, a party functionary in Raipur said. The second 'Parivartan Yatra' will be flagged off by Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) president J P Nadda in Jashpur (north Chhattisgarh) on September 15, he said.
Rajnath Singh To Open 90 BRO Projects Today
Defence Minister Rajnath Singh will inaugurate 90 infrastructure projects of the Border Roads Organisation (BRO) on Tuesday constructed under challenging weather conditions and at most inhospitable terrain locations. They have been constructed with an outlay of Rs 2,941 crore.
In a ceremony organised by the BRO at Devak Bridge on the Bishnah-Kaulpur-Phulpur road in Jammu and Kashmir, the Defence Minister will inaugurate 22 roads, 63 bridges, the Nechiphu tunnel in Arunachal Pradesh, two airfields in West Bengal and two helipads.
Court Orders On Naidu’s House Custody Petition Today
Vijayawada ACB Court has posted to Tuesday orders on ‘house custody’ petition of former Andhra Pradesh chief minister N. Chandrababu Naidu, who is in judicial custody in alleged Skill Development scam. After hearing detailed arguments from both sides, the court adjourned the case to Tuesday.
Naidu’s counsel Sidharth Luthra sought orders for ‘house custody’ of Chandrababu Naidu on the ground that he is Z plus category protectee and faces threat in jail. He expressed doubts over the measures taken for his security in the jail. He pointed out that convicts in serious crimes are lodged in the jail. Luthdra cited Supreme Court judgments for house custody in various six cases in supported of his arguments
