An earthquake of magnitude 5.5 on the Richter scale jolted Nepal's Dhitung, 147 km east-southeast of Kathmandu on Sunday. Tremors of this quake were also felt in Bihar's Sitamarhi, Muzaffarpur and Bhagalpur at around 8 am this morning. According to the National Center for Seismology, tremors were also felt in Nepal's Kathmandu at 7:58 am.
Nepal's Dhitung is 170 km northeast of Muzaffarpur in India. Some people in Bihar panicked due to the tremors.

Odisha Health Minister Naba Kishore Das on Saturday held a review meeting on Monkeypox with senior officials and said that the state is taking all necessary steps in view of the virus while also keeping an eye on the situation in the country. An expert committee for the treatment of Monkeypox at SCB Medical College and Hospital, Cuttack has been formed by the Health department.
"The State is fully prepared to and taking all necessary steps in view of the scare of Monkeypox virus, Government is keeping an eye on the situation in the country," the Minister said after the meeting. Das further said that there is no need to panic, however, added that people need to be vigilant.
The Enforcement Directorate has reached Shiv Sena leader Sanjay Raut's residence in connection with the Patra Chawl Land Scam Case. According to ABP News sources, ED has said that Raut was not cooperating with the investigating agency after multiple summons.

Prime Minister Narendra Modi will address the 91st edition of his monthly radio programme 'Mann Ki Baat' on Sunday at 11 am. "I invite you all to tune-in to this month's #MannKiBaat tomorrow, 31st July at 11 AM. Also sharing a booklet covering the interesting topics from last month such as India's strides in space, glory on the sports field, Rath Yatra and more," PM Modi tweeted on Saturday. Earlier this month, the Prime Minister invited people to share their ideas and suggestions for the episode which will take place today. People could share their ideas on MyGov and Namo App, or could also record their messages by dialling the number 1800-11-7800.

In the 90th edition of his monthly 'Mann ki Baat', Prime Minister remembered the dark chapter in India's history- the Emergency, which was imposed in 1975 and said that it was our democratic mindset that eventually prevailed. He also applauded all those who resisted that period and said that even after the Emergency people did not lose faith in democracy. The Prime Minister further said that during the Emergency the citizens were deprived of all rights, including the Right to Life and Personal Liberty is given by Article 21 of the Constitution. PM Modi said that the country's courts, every Constitutional institution, the press everything was brought under control and Censorship was so stringent that nothing could be published without approval. ITR Deadline Today, Over 5 Cr Returns Filed On Saturday
More than 5 crore income tax returns have been filed till late Saturday evening, the department said, a day before the ITR filing time for the financial year 2021-22 ends. The department issued a public message through its official Twitter handle asking taxpayers, largely individuals and salaried class, to file their returns within the due date of July 31. "#FileNow to avoid late fee," it said.
The department said over 5 crore ITRs for the assessment year 2022-23 were filed up to 8.36 pm on Saturday. The CBDT also issued an order stating that Aaykar Seva Kendras (ASKs) or Income Tax help centres across the country will remain open on Sunday and additional receipt counters will be opened, wherever required, to "facilitate filing of tax returns by the taxpayers." Officials said the finance ministry and the Central Board of Direct Taxes (CBDT), that frames policy for the tax department, are continuously monitoring the ITR filing exercise.
5G Spectrum Bidding To Resume Today, Sale Nears Rs 1.5 Lakh Cr Mark On Saturday
The auction of the 5G spectrum capable of offering ultra-high-speed internet garnered bids worth about Rs 1,49,966 crore on the fifth day of sale on Saturday and the bidding is expected to continue on Sunday.
The total value of bids in the telecom spectrum auction, which began on Tuesday, has come within striking distance of the Rs 1.50 lakh crore mark.
"The 5G auction shows that the industry wants to expand, it has come out of problems and is getting into a growth phase. The auction results are very good, close to Rs 1,49,966 crore has been committed by the industry for buying the spectrum," Telecom Minister Ashwini Vaishnaw said at a briefing in Mumbai, after a telecom investors' roundtable.
Some Elements Creating Conflict In Name Of Religion, Ideology: NSA Doval
National Security Adviser (NSA) Ajit Doval said on Saturday that some elements creating conflict in the name of religion and ideology, which is hindering the country's progress.
Speaking during an event here, he said, "There is an atmosphere of conflict in the world, and if we have to deal with it then it is necessary to maintain the unity of the country. The way India is progressing, people of all religions will get benefited from it."
In the same event, Chairman of All India Sufi Sajjada Nasheen Council (AISSC) Hazrat Syed Naseruddin Chishty said, "We condemn when an incident occurs. It's time to do something. There is a need to rein in and ban radical organisations. They should be banned if there is evidence against them."
