Ahead Of Budget Session, Govt Convenes All-Party Meeting On Tuesday
The government has called a meeting of floor leaders of different parties in Parliament on Tuesday ahead of the Budget session.
It is a customary practice ahead of every session as leaders of different parties highlight the issues they want to raise in Parliament, and the government offers them a glimpse into its agenda and seeks their cooperation.
It will be a short session this time, between January 31 and February 9, with Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman set to table an interim budget ahead of the Lok Sabha polls. The new government will present a full-fledged budget.
The session will begin with President Droupadi Murmu's address.
Chandigarh To Hold Mayoral Polls On Tuesday
Chandigarh's mayoral election will be held on Tuesday (January 30), at 10 am.
Earlier this week, the Punjab and Haryana High Court had ordered the Chandigarh administration to conduct the mayoral election on 30 January. The BJP-ruled Chandigarh Municipal Corporation mayoral election was postponed on January 18 as presiding officer Anil Masih was unwell.
The administration had announced the election to the posts of Mayor, Senior Deputy Mayor, and Deputy Mayor would be held on February 6.
High drama was witnessed earlier as councillors of the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) and Congress, both of which are fighting the polls jointly, registered their protest over the postponement of the polls at the last minute and lashed out at the BJP.

The official said that the 'National Conference on Strategic Trade Controls' seeks to showcase India's prowess in export control systems, facilitate a dialogue between government authorities and industry leaders on the sector, and address emerging risks associated with the export of sensitive goods and technologies.
There are specific laws and regulations with regard to strategic trade or export controls. These help manage the flow of dual-use goods, services and technologies across national borders.
These regulations primarily focus on controlling the export of SCOMET items in order to balance the country's commercial and security considerations.
