Olympic medallist Bajrang Punia has been summoned by Delhi's Patiala House Court in a defamation case filed by wrestling coach Naresh Dahiya. The Court summoned Punia as an accused on September 6. In his criminal defamation complaint, Dahiya stated that during the protest at Jantar Mantar on May 10, Bajrang Punia made defamatory remarks against him in a press conference.
The Kerala police lodged a case against thousands of members of NSS, an influential Nair community organisation, and its Vice President for allegedly gathering unlawfully before a temple here in protest against Speaker A N Shamseer's remarks about a Hindu deity. The case was lodged at Cantonment police station against Nair Service Society (NSS) VP Sangeeth Kumar and thousand other identifiable persons of the organisation for the offences of unlawful assembly, rioting and obstructing public way under the IPC and various provisions of the Kerala Police Act.

Karnataka CM Siddaramaiah To Meet PM Modi Today For The First Time Since Assuming Office
Karnataka Chief Minister Siddaramaiah will meet Prime Minister Narendra Modi and a few Union Ministers in New Delhi on Thursday. This will be his first meeting with the Prime Minister, after the Congress formed the government in the state under his leadership, following victory in the Assembly polls in May.
Siddaramaiah will meet Modi at 11 am on August 3 and hold talks, the Chief Minister's Office said in a statement. On the same day, he will meet Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman, Defence Minister Rajnath Singh and Road Transport Minister Nitin Gadkari, it said.
On Wednesday, the Chief Minister along with state Congress leaders and Ministers met the party leadership in New Delhi to strategise on a plan of action for the 2024 Lok Sabha polls.
Congress president Mallikarjun Kharge and former party chief Rahul Gandhi were part of the meeting where Karnataka Chief Minister Siddaramaiah and deputy chief minister DK Shivakumar, apart from AICC general secretary in-charge for Karnataka Randeep Surjewala were present.
Manipur: 35 Kuki-Zo People Killed In violence To Be Buried Today
Bodies of 35 Kuki-Zo community people who died in the ethnic strife in Manipur will be laid to rest at Lamka town in Churachandpur district on Thursday. The Indigenous Tribal Leaders Forum (ITLF), an organisation of the Kuki-Zo community, is organising the burial programme at the Tuibong peace ground. The ITLF said in a statement that its Chairman Pa Gin Haokip will give a farewell speech on the occasion.
