Suspected material, which is yet to be identified, was seized from a cargo truck coming from Afghanistan at the Attari integrated check-post here, said the Customs Department on Wednesday. The department said a small metal box, which was noticed under the body of the truck, was removed for checking.

Maha Govt Asks People To Join Mass Singing Of Anthem At 11 AM Today


The Maharashtra government has appealed to the people in the state to sing the national anthem at 11 am on Wednesday as a part of the celebrations of 75 years of Independence. The singing should be completed between 11 am and 11:01 am across the state, it said.


Participation is mandatory for all state government departments, universities and colleges while citizens are also expected to take part in the singing, said a government order issued last week.


“Private establishments, traders and even other government departments including those who come under the Union government are also expected to participate in it. Students are expected to gather on open grounds to sing the anthem,” the order said.


Delhi LG Urges People To Follow Covid-Appropriate Behaviour As Cases Rise


Delhi Lieutenant Governor V K Saxena on Tuesday said the pandemic is far from over and appealed to people to adhere to Covid-appropriate behaviour. Delhi on Tuesday reported 917 COVID-19 cases with a positivity rate of 19.20 per cent and three deaths due to the infection, according to data shared by the city health department.


"We are witnessing a rise in COVID19 infections, consistently high positivity & cases of reinfection. It is essential that we realise that the pandemic is far from over. I appeal to all to strictly adhere to COVID Appropriate Behaviour. We cannot afford to let our guards down," Saxena said in a tweet.


Delhi on Monday reported 1,227 fresh COVID-19 cases with a positivity rate of 14.57 per cent, while eight more people succumbed to the disease, according to official data. Before this, the city logged more than 2,000 cases for 12 consecutive days.


Amul, Mother Dairy To Hike Milk Prices By Rs 2/L From Today


Leading milk suppliers Amul and Mother Dairy will increase milk prices by Rs 2 per litre with effect from Wednesday on account of rising input costs. This is the second hike by Amul and Mother Dairy in nearly six months. In the beginning of March, both had increased milk prices by Rs 2 per litre.


The Gujarat Cooperative Milk Marketing Federation (GCMMF), which sells milk and other dairy products under the Amul brand, on Tuesday said it has decided to increase the milk prices by Rs 2 per litre in Ahmedabad and Saurashtra of Gujarat, Delhi-NCR, West Bengal, Mumbai and other markets effective from August 17.


The hike of Rs 2 per litre will translate into a 4 per cent increase in MRP (Maximum Retail Price) which is lower than the average food inflation, it said in a statement.
