Background
Breaking News HIGHLIGHTS, October 3, 2021: There is a lot of militant activity in the Kashmir valley for a couple of days. Terrorists threw a grenade towards a Central Reserve Police Force (CRPF) party and started firing in the Anantnag district of South Kashmir.
Media reports claimed that the grenade missed the target and did not cause any injuries or loss to life. This incident took place at KP road in Anantnag.
In other reports from the valley, in two separate militant attacks, two people including a civilian and an employee of the Power Development Department (PDD) were gunned down by the militants.
Apart from the developments in Kashmir, we also keep our eye on the main news story of the day - the Bhabanipur by-poll election result.
It is perhaps the bypoll with the highest stakes as Mamata Banerjee, the chief minister of West Bengal is contesting from this constituency. Only this win will legitimize her position as the CM of the state as she had lost her seat to Suvendu Adhikari.
We shall also keep a close tab on the Punjab Political crisis. The political turmoil is far from over within the Congress party. It was being widely reported on Saturday that Capt. Amarinder Singh is looking to form his own political party.
It will be interesting to see if he forms a new party or joins a rival party like the BJP.
