Delhi Court To Pronounce Verdict On AAP MP Sanjay Singh's Bail Plea In Excise 'Scam' Case On Friday


A Delhi court on Thursday said that it will pronounce its judgement on Friday on the bail plea of AAP Rajya Sabha member Sanjay Singh in connection with a money laundering case related to the alleged excise policy scam.


Special Judge M.K. Nagpal of Rouse Avenue Court had reserved his verdict on December 12.


During the proceedings, senior advocate Mohit Mathur, representing Singh, argued that the Enforcement Directorate (ED) had not questioned Singh before his arrest.


He also cited contradictions in the statements of accused-turned-approver Dinesh Arora and other witnesses.


The ED opposed the bail application, citing the ongoing investigation and expressing concerns that Singh's release could potentially obstruct the investigation, tamper with evidence, and influence witnesses.


The anti-money laundering agency had arrested Singh on October 4.


Govt to hold pre-bid meet for critical mineral auction on Dec 22


The Ministry of Mines said on Thursday that it will be conducting a pre-bid conference for the first tranche of auction of critical and strategic minerals on Friday at Dr. Ambedkar International Centre here in hybrid mode.


The Ministry of Mines launched the first tranche auction of 20 critical and strategic mineral blocks on November 29.


These blocks are in eight states and union territories viz, Bihar, Chhattisgarh, Gujarat, Jharkhand, Odisha, Tamilnadu, Uttar Pradesh and Jammu and Kashmir.


The minerals being put up for auction are Glauconite, Graphite, Potash, Nickel, PGE, Lithium, REE, Molybdenum, and Phosphorite.


This conference would help the industry, potential bidders, and various other stakeholders, to reach out to the Ministry of Mines for resolution of relevant queries.


These critical minerals are used to produce high-tech devices such as wind turbines, solar panels, and electronics such as smartphones and tablets and also in military hardware.
