Delhi By-Election 2021 Results HIGHLIGHTS: The State Election Commission on Wednesday announced the results for elections to five wards of the Municipal Corporation of Delhi (MCD) as per which, the ruling Aam Aadmi Party bagged four seats of the five seats. Congress party won on one seat while the Bharatiya Janata Party suffered a humiliating defeat.

Aam Aadmi Party candidate Dhirendra Kumar wins Kalyanpuri ward by a margin of 7043 votes. Bharatiya Janata Party stands second.
Two rounds of counting have been completed in Trilokpuri ward. Here, Aam Aadmi Party has taken a lead as it got 2571 votes, BJP 1147 and Congress 1424.
BJP's credibility is at stake in Shalimar Bagh seat, as BJP's female candidate Renu Jaju won here in the 2017 MCD election. The saffron party had fielded Bhupinder Singh Yadav, including its star campaigners MP Manoj Tiwari, MP Gautam Gambhir, Bhojpuri actor Dinesh Yadav Nirhua, and other leaders for campaigning.
AAP workers have started celebrating the victory at Mandavali Counting Center. MLA Kuldeep Kumar attended the celebration. Kuldeep was elected as a councilor from Kalyanpuri in 2017.
In this election, the biggest challenge before Delhi Chief Minister and Aam Aadmi Party convenor Arvind Kejriwal is to retain their old seats. For the past 15 years, Bharatiya Janata Party has emerged victorious across all three Municipal Corporations in the city. In 2017, AAP won four of these five wards while the Congress stood third.
Counting of votes for MCD by-poll in 5 wards underway. As per initial trends, Aam Aadmi Party leading in Ward No 32N, (Rohini-C), Ward No 02-E (Trilokpuri), Ward No 08-E (Kalyanpuri) & Ward No 62N, (Shalimar Bagh North). While, Congress is leading in Ward No 41-E (Chauhan Bangar).
The by-elections for the two wards under North Delhi Municipal Corporation and three under the East Delhi Municipal Corporation were held on Sunday. More than 50% voters showed up to cast their votes. While Kalyanpuri recorded the highest voting percentage, the lowest was in Shalimar Bagh North.

Counting of votes for the elections to five wards of the Municipal Corporation of Delhi (MCD) began at 9 AM on Wednesday morning amid tight security.
The elections for the two wards under North Delhi Municipal Corporation and three under the East Delhi Municipal Corporation were held on Sunday. Results for MCD by-poll in five wards -Ward No 32N, (Rohini-C), Ward No 62N, (Shalimar Bagh North) in north Delhi and Ward No 02-E (Trilokpuri), Ward No 08-E (Kalyanpuri) and Ward No 41-E (Chauhan Bangar) are expected to be declared today (March 3).
According to the reports, more than 50% voters showed up to cast their votes. While Kalyanpuri recorded the highest voting percentage, the lowest was in Shalimar Bagh North.
Post voting session, Aam Aadmi Party, which has four wards, asserted victory. Besides AAP, other contenders, Bharatiya Janata Party and Congress too appeared hopeful.
