Punjab CM Captain Amarinder Singh says that due to the non-availability of vaccines, phase three of vaccination of the 18-45 age group cannot be started as scheduled.


Additionally, Karnataka CM BS Yediyurappa also said: "We have not been supplied with the vaccines till now. Once the vaccines are supplied we will start the vaccination for those above 18 years of age".


"For people from 18 to 45 yearrs, vaccines haven't arrived yet. We'll start their vaccination as soon as we get the vaccine. Lockdown will not extend, I urge people to stay at home and cooperate with the govt," Goa CM Pramod Sawant was quoted as saying.

"When to discontinue home isolation? The Patient under home isolation will stand discharged and end isolation after- at least 10 days have passed from the onset of symptoms & no fever for 3 days. There is no need for testing after the home isolation period is over," says AIIMS Chief Dr Randeep Guleria.

Coronavirus LIVE, 30th April, Highlights: While the country was awaiting 1st May to begin the new phase of vaccination, Mumbai shut its vaccination drive for three days citing lack of adequate doses. Vaccination will not take place in Mumbai starting Friday, the Greater Mumbai Municipal Corporation has said. The Centre has set May 1 as the date for beginning vaccination of 18 to 45-year-olds as younger people are seen to be particularly susceptible to the virus in its second wave. 


The national capital yet again reported its highest ever fatalities on a single day due to COVID-19. Government data shows 395 Covid patients died in the last 24 hours in Delhi. The city reported 24,235 Covid cases during the same period. The positivity rate or the chances of infection spreading is 33 per cent, and the active cases are at 97,977.


Still reeling under a deadly second wave, Maharashtra may witness a third wave of the infection in July-August, said health minister Rajesh Tope. The grim prediction by Tope came on a day when Maharashtra, the state worst-hit by the pandemic in the country, recorded 66,159 fresh coronavirus cases and 771 fatalities.
