Coronavirus HIGHLIGHTS: Maharashtra Chief Minister Uddhav Thackeray on Tuesday announced a statewide curfew for 15 days from 8 pm on April 14 across the state to curb the spread of coronavirus disease. The strict restrictions came as state reported 60,212 fresh COVID19 case on Tuesday. Meanwhile, Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman made it clear that the government would not go for lockdowns in a big way and only resort to local containment.
In view of increasing Coronavirus cases, Rajasthan government has announced night curfew in all cities between 6 pm to 6 am from April 16 to 30.
Mumbai reported as many as 9,925 fresh cases of Coronavirus, 54 deaths and 9,273 recoveries in the last 24 hours. With this, city's overall caseload surged to 5,44,942, including 87,443 active cases
Karnataka reported 11,265 new Covid-19 positive cases on Wednesday including 8,155 cases in Bengaluru Urban, 4,364 discharges and 38 deaths.

Bihar reported 4,157 new cases of coronavirus infection and 43 deaths in 24 hours on Wednesday. The deceased included 16 patients who have died in hospitals of Patna.
The health department of Bihar has tested 93,523 suspected patients till Tuesday evening and 4,157 detected Corona positive in all 38 districts. With this, the total active cases in Bihar are now 20,148. The Bihar government further said that 68,606 persons have recovered from the infection as well.

Maharashtra Chief Minister Uddhav Thackeray to chair a meeting of all district collectors today to review the COVID-19 situation in the state.
Delhi Health Minister Satyendra Jain on Wednesday informed, that Delhi has 13,000 beds and there's "no shortage of ventilators." He apprised that the Centre has provided 1,100 beds and the talks are on to add more to the count.
The Delhi Health Minister also said that there's no slowdown in Covid cases. "We appeal to people to go out only if necessary. Beds' data is being revised twice a day in the app (for availability). People should visit hospitals only after going through the app," said Satyendar Jain.

Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Vice President M Venkaiah Naidu are likely to hold COVID review meeting with Governors, LGs of various states on Wednesday. This is the first meeting of this kind during the coronavirus disease pandemic as previously, PM has interacted with chief ministers of various states.
The meeting comes at a time when the country recorded 1,61,736 new coronavirus cases pushing the caseload to 1,36,89,453 on Tuesday.
Jharkhand Health Minister Banna Gupta inspected COVID-19 ward at Sadar Hospital in Ranchi on Tuesday. After examining the status of COVID-positive patients, Gupta said, "Some patients have mild symptoms or are asymptomatic. They are being sent to home isolation. I'll make sudden inspections to other hospitals as well."
"There is no shortage of Remdesivir injection in the state. On Tuesday, we received 1,500 injections. We have written to the Central govt for more ventilators. We are increasing the number of ventilators," minister added,

While making the announcement, Thackeray also said that "we thought we had won the war against Corona but the fight is still on." He stressed on the fact that the healthcare infrastructure has been overburdened.
