Private hospital chains Apollo, Max and Fortis will start Covid shots for people between 18 and 44 from today, when vaccinations are opened to all adults across the country.

Import Of Oxygen Concentrators For Personal Use Included In List Of Exempted Categories

"The government has included the import of oxygen concentrators for personal use, through post, courier, or e-commerce portals, in the list of exempted categories, where Customs clearance is sought as "gifts". This exemption is valid till 31 July 2021,": Ministry of Commerce & Industry informed.


 






Mumbai to begin vaccination for 18+

In an emotional appeal, Mumbai Mayor Kishori Pednekar, requested everyone with her folded hands to "wear a mask, that too double masks". "People are requested to not step out of their houses unnecessarily, she said.

"On the advice of the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention, the administration will restrict travel from India," Press Secretary Jen Psaki said in a statement.


She cited "extraordinarily high Covid-19 caseloads and multiple variants circulating in the India".


Private hospital chains Apollo, Max and Fortis will start Covid shots for people between 18 and 44 from today, when vaccinations are opened to all adults across the country. Several states have said they cannot launch vaccinations for 18-plus people as planned as they do not have enough vaccine stocks.


Apollo said it would start these vaccinations at limited centres in the country.


Maharashtra Chief Minister Uddhav Thackeray on Friday said the state is now prepared to deal with a third wave of the coronavirus with enough oxygen in stock.


He said Maharashtra would have seen nine to 10 lakh active coronavirus cases if the state government had not imposed new lockdown-like restrictions, Thackeray said. A complete lockdown may be necessary but “I don’t think we will reach that stage," he said.
