Amit Shah to Address National Symposium on Organic Produce Promotion
Union Home Minister and Minister of Cooperation, Amit Shah, is set to address the National Symposium on the Promotion of Organic Produce, organised by the National Cooperative Organics Limited (NCOL). The event will take place in New Delhi on Wednesday, November 8, 2023.
Amit Shah will play a pivotal role in launching the logo, website, and brochure of NCOL during the symposium. Additionally, he will distribute membership certificates to NCOL members. The one-day symposium will focus on discussing the objectives of NCOL, the significance of organic produce, and the role of cooperative societies in uplifting small and marginal farmers.
NCOL, established as a national-level multi-state cooperative society, aims to position India as a global leader in organic products, aligning with Prime Minister Narendra Modi's vision of "Sahakar Se Samriddhi" (Prosperity through Cooperation). Under the leadership of Prime Minister Modi and with the guidance of Minister Amit Shah, the Ministry of Cooperation has undertaken 54 initiatives over the past 27 months to bolster the cooperative movement in the country.
The establishment of a national-level cooperative dedicated to promoting organic products marks a significant step toward boosting the rural economy, supporting "Make in India," and paving the way for "Aatmanirbhar Bharat" (Self-reliant India) and "Local to Global" initiatives.
The symposium, to be held at the ICAR Convention Centre in Pusa, New Delhi, will provide a platform for stakeholders to discuss and work towards advancing the organic produce sector in India. The event aligns with the government's commitment to fostering sustainable agriculture and strengthening the cooperative movement to benefit small and marginal farmers.
Manipur Internet Ban Ends Today, Extension Likely
The government of Manipur extended the mobile internet ban in the state until November 8. As the deadline ends today, the prohibition is likely to be extended. The prior decision was made following a recent attack on a camp of the 1 Manipur Rifles, where an attempt was made to loot its armoury, leading to security personnel firing warning shots.
The ban's extension is driven by concerns that anti-social elements could exploit social media to transmit images, hate speeches, and videos, potentially inciting public unrest and affecting the law and order situation. The decision is seen as a preventive measure to mitigate any potential threats stemming from inflammatory material and false rumors disseminated through social media.
