On the other hand, Dr Reddy's, Reliance Industries and NTPC were the only gainers.
In the previous session, the 30-share BSE Sensex tumbled 214.85 points or 0.39 per cent to close at 54,892.49 in see-saw trade. The broader NSE Nifty declined 60.10 points or 0.37 per cent to finish at 16,356.25.

Delhi on Wednesday reported rise at in fresh Covid cases in last 24 hours, at 564, against 450 recorded on previous day, while there was one more death, as per the state government health bulletin.
Meanwhile, the Covid positivity rate has also jumped up to 2.84 per cent and the number of active cases has also risen to 1,691.
With 406 patients recovering in the last 24 hours, the total number of recoveries has gone to 18,82,086. The number of patients being treated in home isolation stands at 1,048.
With new Covid cases, the total caseload of the city has jumped to 19,09,991, while the death toll has gone to 26,214.
The number of Covid containment zones stand at 236 in the city.
Train services on Delhi Metro’s Blue line (Dwarka sector 21- Vaishali/Noida Electronic City) were delayed during the morning rush hours, the Delhi Metro Rail Corporation said on Thursday. It, however, didn't give the reason behind the delay. Providing an update on the Blue Line, the DMRC said on its official Twitter handle that services remain normal on all the other liens.

Two BJP MLAs will be sworn in as ministers today as Assam Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma announced the first cabinet expansion of his government on Wednesday. Two new ministers are going to be added to the 14-member Assam cabinet. "The oath-taking ceremony will be held at Srimanta Sankardev International Auditorium in Guwahati on Thursday at around 3 pm. Two MLAs from BJP will take oath as ministers," the Assam Chief Minister said. Earlier the Assam Chief Minister said that one MLA from the hill districts will be inducted into the Assam cabinet. This will be the first cabinet reshuffle of the Himanta Biswa Sarma-led cabinet. Sarma was sworn in as the Chief Minister of Assam on May 10 last year.

PM Modi To Inaugurate Biotech Start-Up Expo
Prime Minister Narendra Modi will inaugurate the Biotech Startup Expo 2022 at Pragati Maidan in the capital today. On this occasion, he will also address the gathering present there. Biotech startup has been organised by Biotechnology Industry Research Assistance Council, Department of Biotechnology. It is a two-day event that will end on June 10. It has been organised on the occasion of the completion of 10 years of the establishment of the Council.
The theme of the expo is "Biotech Startup Innovations: Towards Aatmanirbhar Bharat", Prime Minister’s Office said in a statement. The expo will act as a platform to connect entrepreneurs, investors, industry leaders, scientists, researchers, manufacturers, regulators and government officials.
Assam Cabinet Reshuffle, 2 BJP MLAs To Take Oath As Ministers
The cabinet of Himanta Biswa Sarma will be expanded in Assam on Friday as two BJP MLAs will be administered the oath of office. Both the MLAs will be administered the oath of office at Srimanta Sankaradeva Kalakshetra in Guwahati at around 3 pm. Assam Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma himself gave this information on Wednesday.
However, the Chief Minister did not mention the names of the two MLAs who would be sworn in as ministers tomorrow. According to media reports, two MLAs from hill districts will be given a place in the cabinet.
