Senior IAS officer Manoj Kumar Singh took over as the chief secretary of Uttar Pradesh on Sunday, an official statement said.
Singh, a 1988-batch Indian Administrative Service (IAS) officer of the Uttar Pradesh cadre, replaces Durga Shankar Mishra, it added.
According to the statement, Singh was serving as the agriculture production commissioner, infrastructure and industrial development commissioner and the additional chief secretary of the Panchayati Raj department.
He has discharged important administrative responsibilities in his career, including as the district magistrate of Lalitpur, Gautam Buddh Nagar, Pilibhit, Moradabad and Aligarh and as the divisional commissioner of Moradabad. Singh is considered a prominent face in Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath's team.
The statement also said that during the COVID-19 pandemic, Singh was part of teams that played a significant role in controlling the spread of the virus in rural areas. (PTI Inputs)
Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister N Chandrababu Naidu on Sunday thanked Prime Minister Narendra Modi for endorsing the state's Araku coffee in his latest 'Mann ki Baat' episode.
The Prime Minister also posted two pictures of him, Naidu and others enjoying a cup of Araku coffee in the port city of Visakhapatnam in 2016.
Responding to the PM's post, Naidu took to X and said, “Thank you for sharing this, Narendra Modi, and for endorsing a truly Made in AP (Andhra Pradesh) product. I look forward to enjoying another cup with you." In his monthly Radio programme, Modi said that he has been an admirer of Araku coffee and that its cultivation is closely linked to tribal empowerment.
According to the Andhra Pradesh CM, Araku coffee is grown with ‘love and devotion by our tribal sisters and brothers’.
“It represents a blend of sustainability, tribal empowerment, and innovation. It’s a reflection of the boundless potential of our people of Andhra Pradesh,” added Naidu.

Five persons, including a woman, are feared drowned in a waterfall close to the backwater of Bhushi Dam in Pune's Lonavala area on Sunday, a police official said.
The incident happened around 3pm when these five persons, who were there for a picnic. slipped close to the waterfall and fell into the waterbody, the Lonavala police station official said.
"A search and rescue team is at the spot. Further details are awaited," he added. (PTI Input)
Karnataka Chief Minister Siddaramaiah on Sunday said his government is committed to building a film city in Mysuru.
He also assured the film producers that steps will be taken for a Kannada OTT platform.
"Our government gave 100 acres of land in Mysuru for the film city. We will build it on the public private partnership basis," the Chief Minister told reporters after inaugurating the new building of Kannada Film Producers' Association.
Siddaramaiah said a film city for the Kannada film industry was the dream of Kannada matinee idol Dr Rajkumar and his government will make it happen.
He blamed the previous BJP government for doing nothing for the film city.
Regarding the OTT platform for the Kannada film industry, the Chief Minister said his government will review it and take action accordingly. (PTI Input)
The Delhi Traffic Police restricted vehicular movement in the Okhla underpass on Sunday due to waterlogging and asked commuters to accordingly plan their journeys.
The move comes after a 60-year-old man drowned in the underpass on Saturday. The national capital experienced heavy rainfall on Friday and Saturday, leading to waterlogging and massive traffic jams in several parts of the city. (PTI Input)

Lt Gen Upendra Dwivedi To Take Over As Indian Army Chief tomorrow
Lieutenant General Upendra Dwivedi is to take over as the next chief of the Indian Army on Sunday succeeding Gen Manoj Pande on completion of his 26-month tenure.
As per the report of ANI, he will be the 30th Chief of the Army Staff and is taking over at a time when the force is undergoing major modernisation through indigenisation along with structural reforms.
During his lengthy tenure as the Northern Army Commander, Lt Gen Dwivedi was exposed to the ongoing military operations pertaining to the standoff on the LAC in eastern Ladakh. On June 30, 2024, in the afternoon, the government named Lt Gen Upendra Dwivedi to be the next Chief of Staff of the Army.
PM Modi’s ‘Mann Ki Baat’ To Resume From June 30
Prime Minister Narendra Modi announced on Tuesday that his monthly radio broadcast, Mann Ki Baat, is scheduled to resume on June 30. PM Modi also requested people to share their ideas and inputs for his radio broadcast via MyGov Open Forum, NaMo App, or by recorded message on 1800 11 7800.
As per the DD News report, Modi’s monthly ‘Mann Ki Baat’ programme was broadcast last on February 25, after which it was paused due to the Lok Sabha elections. “Mann ki Baat will not be broadcast for the next three months in view of upcoming Lok Sabha polls,” PM Narendra Modi stated in the 110th edition of the programme.
Jaishankar To Visit Qatar On Sunday; Focus On Boosting Energy And Trade Ties
External Affairs Minister S Jaishankar is scheduled to travel to Qatar on Sunday to hold talks with Prime Minister Mohammed bin Abdulrahman bin Jassim Al Thani with a focus on exploring ways to expand bilateral cooperation in areas of trade, investment, and energy.
The visit of Jaishankar comes four-and-half months after Qatar released eight former Indian Navy personnel, who were sentenced to death in August 2022 after being arrested.
"During the visit, he will meet the Prime Minister and Foreign Minister of Qatar Sheikh Mohammed bin Abdulrahman bin Jassim Al Thani," the Ministry of External Affairs (MEA) said, PTI reported.
It said the visit would "enable both sides to review various aspects of bilateral relations, including political, trade, investment, energy, security, cultural and people-to-people as well as the regional and international issues of mutual interest".
