Six people were killed in a car accident when a sedan collided with a fuel tanker on a road northwest of Baghdad, a traffic police official said, news agency IANS reported on Saturday.
Provincial traffic police officer Mahmoud al-Bakri told Xinhua news agency that the incident occurred on Friday when a sedan car carrying five people collided with a tanker on a desert road between the provinces of Salahudin and Anbar, causing a fire. A roadside bomb blast has targeted a security commander of pro-government Yemeni forces in the southern province of Abyan, injuring the commander and resulting in the deaths of two of his bodyguards, a government official told the media.
The official, who spoke on condition of anonymity, said on Friday that the attack took place in the province's eastern Mudiyah district, an area known for its instability and persistent security challenges due to the presence of terrorist elements, news agency IANS reported, citing Xinhua news agency.

Delhi Court To Hear Engineer Rashid's Interim Bail Plea To MP Oath Today
A Delhi court is expected to hear on Saturday, June 22, further arguments on a plea filed by Engineer Rashid, arrested in a 2016 Jammu and Kashmir terror funding case, seeking interim bail to take oath as an MP. Contesting as an independent candidate, Sheikh Abdul Rashid, popularly known as Engineer Rashid, defeated former Chief Minister Omar Abdullah of the National Conference in the 2024 Lok Sabha polls in Baramulla, PTI reported.
Additional Sessions Judge Chander Jit Singh had on Tuesday fixed the matter for hearing on June 22 and directed the NIA to inform the court about the likely date for his oath-taking.
The judge passed the directions after he was informed that the newly elected Lok Sabha MPs would take oath on June 24, 25, and 26.
Rashid has moved the court seeking interim bail, or custody parole in the alternative, to take the oath and perform his parliamentary functions.
Engineer Rashid has been in jail since 2019 after he was charged by the NIA under the Unlawful Activities (Prevention) Act in the alleged terror funding case. He is at present lodged in Tihar jail.
DU To Start PG Admissions For 2024-25 Session From Saturday
Delhi University is all set to announce the first round of seat allocation for postgraduate programmes for the 2024-25 academic session from June 22, according to the admission schedule released earlier on Wednesday.
The declaration of the first round of seat allotment will begin at the Common Seat Allocation System (CSAS) portal at 5 pm.
Candidates will be given time till June 27 to accept their choice of seat allotment. The last date to make an online payment for the same is June 28 at 4.59 pm, as per the schedule.
The second round of seat allotment will begin on July 2 and the mid-entry window will open from July 11.
The third round of seat allocation for admissions to Delhi University along with admissions under supernumerary quotas will commence from July 16. The last date for making payment for the third round is set for July 21.
DU is likely to announce more rounds subject to the availability of vacant seats.
