Manisha Ropeta is making heads turn not only because she is among the few female officers in authoritative positions in Sindh Police but also for the fact that the 26-year-old is the first woman from the minority Hindu community in Pakistan to become a Deputy Superintendent of Police.
In Pakistan's male dominated society and culture, it is difficult for women to join professions considered as “manly” such as the police force.
“From childhood I and my sisters have seen the same old system of patriarchy where girls are told if they want to get educated and work it can only be as teachers or doctors,” Ropeta from Sindh's Jacobabad area says.

Indian Youth Congress on Thursday staged a protest outside the residence of Union minister Smriti Irani over her alleged "misbehavior" with Congress president Sonia Gandhi in Parliament, a statement said. Several IYC leaders and workers holding placards took part in the protest and raised slogans, it said.

"Indecent remark of Congress MP for President is condemnable. It's an insult to Constitution, women & tribal community. In a way, it's an insult to the nation too. I condemn the MP & Congress. They should apologise to citizens," Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath said.

PM Modi To Launch India Intl Bullion Exchange In Gujarat
Prime Minister Narendra Modi will visit his home state Gujarat and the southern state of Tamil Nadu on 28 and 29 July and will inaugurate and lay foundation stones of several development projects. According to a statement issued by the Prime Minister's Office (PMO), Modi will also inaugurate the 44th Chess Olympiad and the 42nd Convocation of Anna University.
PM will launch several projects including the country's first international bullion exchange during his two-day Gujarat visit starting July 28.
The PMO said that on July 28, at 12 noon, the Prime Minister will lay the foundation stone of several projects worth Rs 1,000 crore of Sabar Dairy at Gandhoda Chowki in Sabarkantha, Gujarat. According to the statement issued by the PMO, these projects will empower the local farmers and milk producers and increase their income. Along with this, the region's rural economy will also get a boost.
