Joshimath Subsidence: Uttarakhand CM To Hold High-Level Meet


According to sources, Uttarakhand Chief Minister Pushkar Singh Dhami will hold a high-level meeting on Friday evening in Dehradun in response to the land subsidence at Joshimath in the Chamoli district, reported PTI.


The meeting will also include Commissioner Garhwal Mandal and District Magistrate Chamoli, in addition to representatives from the Disaster, Irrigation, and Home Departments.


A group of experts, including representatives from the administration and State Disaster Management, surveyed the affected areas earlier on Thursday.


The Chamoli district's affected areas were visited by Garhwal Commissioner Sushil Kumar and Disaster Management Secretary Ranjit Kumar Sinha.


In the meantime, the government of Uttarakhand put together a team of scientists to determine the cause of Joshimath's land subsidence and house damage.


Engineers from the Geological Survey of India, the Wadia Institute, and IIT Roorkee have been included in the team that was put together on Pushkar Singh Dhami's orders, according to a public statement.


Water Supply To Be Affected In Parts Of Delhi On Friday And Saturday


On Friday and Saturday, there will likely be a shortage of water in areas of South, Southeast, and Northeast Delhi. Customers have been informed by the Delhi Jal Board (DJB) that the annual task of flushing the underground reservoir and booster pumping station will affect the supply of water in some areas on January 6 and 7, and they have been asked to store sufficient water.
