3 Injured In Blast In Pakistan's Khyber Pakhtunkhwa

At least three persons were injured after an explosive device planted on a motorbike detonated in Pakistan's restive Khyber Pakhtunkhwa province on Friday, police said, as reported by news agency PTI. The incident took place at Darazinda area of Dera Ismail Khan district.


ACcording to PTI, the blast originated from a motorbike laden with explosives that was parked in front of a hotel. The explosion resulted in injuries to three passersby in the vicinity, police said, adding that one of the injured persons is in critical condition. Heavy contingents of police rushed to the site and cordoned off the entire area following the blast.

Chhattisgarh: PM Modi To Inaugurate South Eastern Coalfields' Three Projects On Feb 24


Prime Minister Narendra Modi will virtually inaugurate three first-mile connectivity projects operated by South Eastern Coalfields Ltd (SECL) in Chhattisgarh. The first-mile connectivity (FMC) projects are worth Rs 600 crore. SECL is a subsidiary of Coal India Limited.


"Prime Minister Narendra Modi is scheduled to virtually inaugurate three key First Mile Connectivity projects of South Eastern Coalfields Limited (SECL), a Coal India Subsidiary under the Ministry of Coal, in Chhattisgarh tomorrow," the coal ministry said in a press release. One of these projects is the Dipka Open Cast Project (OCP) coal handling plant, which cost more than Rs 211 crore to build. 


With an annual coal handling capacity of 25 million tonnes (MT), the project includes a 20,000-tonne overground bunker and a 2.1-kilometer-long conveyor belt.


This will allow for the rapid loading of 4,500-8,500 tonnes of coal per hour, according to the statement. The second project is the Chhal OCP coal handling plant, which cost more than Rs 173 crore. It can handle 6 MT of coal per year and includes an overground bunker, a 1.7 km conveyor belt, and a 3,000-tonne silo.


Maharashtra: Jarange-Patil announces fresh round of protests from Feb 24


Despite the state legislature passing a bill on Tuesday to provide a 10% quota to the Maratha community, Manoj Jarange-Patil remained dissatisfied and announced a new round of statewide protests on Wednesday, beginning February 24. The reservation activist, who is sceptical that the bill will stand up to legal scrutiny, wants the government to keep the promises it made to him about including Marathas in the Other Backward Classes category.


Beginning February 24, Maratha community members will hold daily rasta rokos (road blockades) across the state from 10:30 AM to 1 PM and 4 PM to 7 PM. Jarange-Patil has urged the community not to allow Lok Sabha election campaigning in their villages if the government does not accept its demand within two days, and to ignore politicians entirely. He has also asked them not to use violence while staging the agitations.
