Season's First Dense Fog Hits Rail, Road Traffic In Delhi, IMD Issues Advisory For 5 Days
On Monday morning, Delhi and the surrounding areas were covered in the first heavy fog of the season. Visibility was reduced to 150 meters, and the movement of road and rail traffic was affected.
The Indo-Gangetic plains are likely to experience "dense to very dense" fog over the next five days, according to the India Meteorological Department, which could cause trains and flights to be diverted or canceled.
A rail route official said around 20 trains were deferred by 15 minutes to 2 hours in the first part of the day.
"Fog affecting train movement today. We have taken precautionary measures. Speed restrictions are put in place in such conditions. Safety is our priority. Passengers are informed about schedules through announcements and other means," a northern railway spokesperson said.
According to the weather department, asthmatics with bronchitis may experience wheezing, coughing, and shortness of breath after prolonged exposure to the fog. Additionally, it could cause eye irritation or infection.
On long journeys, the Metropolitan Meteorological Office recommended that travelers bring essentials like water and medication.
Lalrinawma To Be Sworn In As Mizoram Minister
