Defence Minister Rajnath Singh To Leave For Tashkent To Attend SCO Meet
Defense Minister Rajnath Singh will leave for Tashkent, the capital of Uzbekistan, on Tuesday to attend a meeting of defense ministers of countries that are part of the Shanghai Cooperation Organization (SCO). Chinese Defense Minister General Wei Fenghe and Russian Defense Minister Sergei Shoigu are also expected to attend the meeting, apart from leaders of other member states.
The Defense Ministerial meeting of the SCO is taking place about three weeks before the annual summit of this influential grouping. The summit is scheduled to take place in Samarkand on 15 and 16 September.
Singh said, "Tomorrow, August 23, I will be in Uzbekistan to take part in the SCO Defence Ministers Meet being held at Tashkent. I will be holding a bilateral meeting with Uzbekistan's Defence Minister, Lt. General Nizamovich, and also interact with the Indian community. Look forward to it."
IMD Predicts Heavy Rains In Parts Of TN, Puducherry From Tuesday
The India Meteorological Department (IMD) has predicted heavy rains in some areas of Tamil Nadu and adjoining Puducherry and some districts adjoining the Western Ghats from Tuesday. Meteorological officials also said that there is a possibility of light to heavy rain and thundershower activities in some areas of the state.
The IMD has predicted that the rain intensity is expected to increase in some districts of Tamil Nadu and parts of Puducherry on Tuesday and Wednesday when the deep pressure in the Bay of Bengal will approach Tamil Nadu coast. The department has forecast heavy rains in Coimbatore, Theni, Tiruppur and some other districts on Tuesday and Wednesday. Light to moderate rain is likely in other parts of the state these days. The maximum temperature in Tamil Nadu is likely to be in the range of 35 to 36 degree Celsius during the next two days.
