Supreme Court to Hear Ex-Delhi Minister's Bail Plea in Money Laundering Case


The Supreme Court of India is set to consider the bail plea of former Delhi minister, Satyendar Kumar Jain, in a money laundering case on Monday, news agency PTI reported. This comes as part of the ongoing legal proceedings against him. The case, which has been lodged against Jain, has led to a bench being constituted comprising Justice A S Bopanna and Justice Bela M Trivedi.


The court had previously extended interim bail to Jain until October 9 and directed him not to misuse the proceedings at the Supreme Court as a tactic to delay the trial. The Enforcement Directorate has alleged that the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) leader has been seeking multiple adjournments in the trial court under the pretext of his bail application pending before the apex court. According to the probe agency, Jain has sought 16 different hearing dates in the trial court.


Supreme Court to Deliberate on Pleas Challenging Premature Release of Bilkis Bano Case Convicts


On October 9, the Supreme Court is scheduled to hear arguments regarding petitions challenging the premature release of 11 convicts involved in the Bilkis Bano gangrape case and the murder of seven members of her family during the 2002 Gujarat riots, as per news agency PTI. The bench presiding over the matter includes Justices B V Nagarathna and Ujjal Bhuyan. The petitioners, including Bilkis Bano herself, have been asked to submit their concise written rejoinder arguments.
