The country's largest carmaker Maruti Suzuki India on Monday said it is recalling 87,599 units of S-Presso and Eeco models to check and replace faulty steering tie rod. The recalled units were manufactured between July 5, 2021, and February 15, 2023, the auto major said in a statement.

Supreme Court issues notice to the Centre on a plea filed by opposition leaders from Assam challenging the recent draft proposal of the Election Commission of India (ECI) for the delimitation of Assam's 126 Assembly constituencies and 14 Lok Sabha constituencies. Supreme Court asks Centre to file affidavit within three weeks. Supreme Court also refuses to stay the delimitation process of Election Commission initiated in Assam, saying it wouldn’t issue any order restraining the poll panel to take any further steps regarding delimitation exercise in the state, ANI reported.

Eight children drowned in separate incidents in Seoni, Bhind and Umaria districts of Madhya Pradesh in the last 24 hours, police said on Monday.


In Seoni, four boys, in the age group of 5 to 10 years, drowned on Sunday evening when they went to take bath in a pond near their homes in Dhobisarra village, located 25 km from the district headquarters, Kurai police station in-charge Nandkishor Dhurve said, as reported by PTI.

A 48-year-old man got swept away after falling into a swollen river in Maharashtra's Palghar district, an official said on Monday. The incident took place at around 6.45 pm on Sunday when the man, from Adagpada at Samba in Talasari area, was crossing the Kolha creek river, district disaster management cell Vivekanand Kadam told PTI.


The man fell into the water body and got swept away, he said. Efforts were on to trace him, the official added. Palghar has been witnessing heavy rains since the last one week.

The ASI team will start the survey of the Gyanvapi complex at around 7 am on Monday. A team from the Archaeological Survey of India (ASI) arrived in Varanasi on Sunday to conduct a scientific survey to determine if the Gyanvapi mosque located next to the Kashi Vishwanath temple is built upon a temple. Advocate of the Hindu side Madan Mohan Yadav said that an advocate each of the petitioners will accompany the survey team, news agency PTI reported. 


Allahabad HC To Hear Plea Against Proposed Demolition Of Mosque Minaret In Ayodhya


As the construction of the Ram temple in Ayodhya nears completion, a fight is on in the Allahabad High Court over a minaret of an 18th-century mosque encroaching on the proposed Ram Path, a road leading to the temple. The matter will be heard by the Lucknow bench of the high court on Monday (July 24). A minaret of Khajoor ki Masjid in Gudri Bazaar in the heart of Faizabad city is said to be encroaching on the proposed Ram Path by three metres, PTI reported.


The mosque committee has filed a petition in the high court. Trying to forcibly demolish the minaret is condemnable. 


Plea On Free Sanitary Pads For Class 6-12 Girls To Be Heard By SC


The Supreme Court is scheduled to hear on Monday a plea seeking directions to states and the Centre to provide free sanitary pads to class 6-12 girls and ensure separate female toilet facility in all government-aided and residential schools, PTI reported.


The plea by social worker Jaya Thakur is scheduled to be heard by a bench of Chief Justice D Y Chandrachud and Justices JB Pardiwala and Manoj Misra. The top court had earlier asked the Centre to prepare a Standard Operating Procedure and a national model to be adopted by all states and Union Territories for managing menstrual hygiene for girls studying in schools.


On April 10, the top court had said the issue was of immense importance and that the Centre should engage with all the stakeholders for implementation of a uniform national policy on management of menstrual hygiene in schools, including government and aided schools.
