The Delhi Police on Sunday apprehended six members of a family, who were on their way to Union Home Minister Amit Shah's residence on Krishna Menon Marg.Deputy Commissioner of Police (New Delhi) Pranav Tayal said information was received that six members of a family were proceeding towards Krishna Menon Marg without proper authorisation.A police team, on receiving the information, reached the area and while these people were looking for the location, apprehended them in a timely manner to avert any incident, the DCP said. Rajya Sabha Chairman Dhankhar to Hoist National Flag at New Parliament Building
Vice President and Rajya Sabha Chairman Jagdeep Dhankhar is scheduled to hoist the national flag at the new Parliament building on Sunday. The flag hoisting ceremony will take place one day ahead of the five-day Parliament session commencing on Monday, which may witness parliamentary proceedings shifting from the old to the adjacent new building, news agency PTI reported.
According to the Lok Sabha Secretariat, Dhankhar will raise the flag atop the Gaja Dwar of the new Parliament building. Lok Sabha Speaker Om Birla will be in attendance, along with Parliamentary Affairs Minister Pralhad Joshi, Rajya Sabha Deputy Chairman Harivansh, Union Ministers of State for Parliamentary Affairs Arjun Ram Meghawal and V Muraleedharan, as well as leaders from various parties in Rajya Sabha and Lok Sabha.
Congress President and Leader of Opposition in Rajya Sabha, Mallikarjun Kharge, has expressed disappointment over receiving the invitation for the flag hoisting function quite late and stated that he would not be able to attend.
