Ministry of Home Affairs (MHA) today constituted the Unlawful Activities (Prevention) Tribunal consisting of Delhi High Court Judge Justice Sachin Datta for the purpose of adjudicating whether there is sufficient cause for declaring the Muslim League Jammu Kashmir (Masarat Alam faction) (MLJK-MA) as an unlawful association.
On December 27 last year, the MHA had declared MLJK-MA as an unlawful association under Unlawful Activities (Prevention) Act, 1967.
National Investigation Agency (NIA) today charge-sheeted one of the two members of the ISIS Jharkhand module arrested last year. The agency today filed a chargesheet against Faizan Ansari alias Faiz before the NIA Special Court, Ranchi, under various sections of the Unlawful Activities (Prevention) Act and the Indian Penal Code: NIA
As per NIA investigations, Faiz was actively involved in propagating the ideology of violent extremism pursued by the Islamic State of Iraq and Syria (ISIS), a banned global terror outfit that has been making efforts to increase its activities across India. President Murmu On 3-Day Visit Of Meghalaya, Assam From Today
President Droupadi Murmu will visit Meghalaya and Assam from January 15 to 17, an official statement issued on Sunday by the Rashtrapati Bhavan said. The president will inaugurate the Meghalaya Games at the P A Sangma Stadium in Tura on Monday, it said.
This is her first visit to Meghalaya after assuming the office of the president.
On January 16, she will address the members of self-help groups at the Baljek Airport, Tura, and virtually lay the foundation stone for the new Integrated Administration Complex, the statement said.
On the same day, President Murmu will address a gathering at Mawphlang and virtually inaugurate upgraded Rongjeng Mangsang Adokgre Road and Mairang Ranigodown Azra Road as well as lay the foundation stones for Shillong Peak Ropeway and tourist accommodations in the villages of Kongthong, Mawlyngot and Kudengrim.
"In the evening, the president will attend a civic reception to be hosted in her honour by the government of Meghalaya at the Raj Bhavan, Shillong," it added.
On January 17, Murmu will attend the golden jubilee celebrations of the Karbi Youth Festival at Taralangso, Diphu, Assam.
EAM Jaishankar Likely To Travel To Iran Today
External Affairs Minister S Jaishankar is set to travel to Iran on Monday to hold talks with his Iranian counterpart Hossein Amir-Abdollahian during which they are expected to deliberate on a range of bilateral and regional issues including the unfolding security situation in the Red Sea, one of the world's most crucial waterways.
Jaishankar's planned visit to Tehran comes against the backdrop of growing global concerns over Houthi militants targeting merchant vessels in the Red Sea amid the Israel-Hamas conflict.
The US and the UK have already launched air strikes targeting the Houthi positions in Yemen.
The external affairs minister is scheduled to travel to Iran on Monday for a short visit, people familiar with the matter said, adding the two sides are likely to deliberate on a range of bilateral and regional issues including the situation in the Red Sea.
India has been closely monitoring the unfolding situation in the Red Sea.
The issue figured in a telephonic conversation between Jaishankar and US Secretary of State Antony Blinken on Thursday.
The Indian Navy has already enhanced deployment of its frontline ships and surveillance aircraft for maritime security operations in view of the maritime environment in the critical sea lanes including the North and Central Arabian Sea.
