Mumbai Police arrested a 40 yrs old accused of allegedly molesting a woman in the running auto in the Malad area. Autorickshaw's speed was slow when suddenly the accused who was walking from the opposite side touched the woman sitting in the auto and escaped from the spot. West Bengal SEC Orders Repolling On July 10 In Booths Where Voting Declared Void
The West Bengal State Election Commission (SEC) announced to rerun the rural elections on Monday (July 10) in all booths where voting was declared void. The SEC made this announcement in response to reports of vote tampering and violent incidents that disrupted the voting process in several areas.
The SEC reviewed these reports and issued the repolling order during a meeting on Sunday evening, PTI reported. Murshidabad has the most affected districts, with 175, followed by Malda, which has 112 booths that need to be re-polled, it said. Nadia, which saw violence, will have repolling in 89 booths, while the districts of North and South 24 Parganas will have repolling in 46 and 36 booths, respectively.
Rajnath Singh To Visit Malaysia On July 10, 11
Defence Minister Rajnath Singh will visit Malaysia for two days beginning Monday to discuss ways to strengthen the bilateral defence and strategic partnership. During his visit, Singh will meet with Malaysian counterpart Dato' Seri Mohamad Hasan and Prime Minister YB Dato' Seri Anwar bin Ibrahim, the defence ministry said on Saturday.
Malaysia is one of a few countries interested in purchasing India's indigenously developed Tejas aircraft. Tejas is a multi-role fighter aircraft with a single engine that can operate in high-threat environments.
According to the ministry, Singh will pay an official visit to Malaysia on July 10 and 11, with the goal of further consolidating bilateral defence cooperation and strengthening strategic partnerships.
Supreme Court To Hear Delhi's Control of Services Ordinance On Monday
The Supreme Court will hear the Delhi government's petition challenging the constitutional validity of the ordinance on service control on Monday. The petition, which seeks to overturn the ordinance and obtain an interim stay, claims that the ordinance is an unconstitutional exercise of executive power that violates the authority of the Supreme Court and undermines the fundamental structure of the Constitution.
On July 6, senior advocate Abhishek Singhvi requested an urgent hearing. The Government of the National Capital Territory of Delhi (Amendment) Ordinance, 2023, issued by the Centre on May 19, aims to establish a transfer and posting authority for Group-A officers in Delhi.
