Breaking News HIGHLIGHTS September 11, 2021: Prime Minister Narendra Modi will on Saturday inaugurate Sardardham Bhavan in Ahmedabad and perform 'bhoomi pujan' of Sardardham Phase-II Kanya Chhatralaya (girls' hostel) on Saturday at 11 AM via video conferencing. Sardardham has been working towards educational and social transformation, upliftment of weaker sections of society and providing employment opportunities to the youth, as per the official release by the Prime Minister's office. Set up in Ahmedabad, the Sardardham Bhavan includes state-of-the-art facilities for students, with modern amenities. The Kanya Chhatralaya will be a hostel facility for 2,000 girls irrespective of economic criteria. Gujarat Chief Minister Vijay Rupani and Gujarat Deputy Chief Minister Nitin Patel will also be present on the occasion.In another update, the national capital woke up to moderate to heavy rainfall on Saturday morning, bringing slight respite from the heat in the city.The India Meteorological Department had predicted thunderstorms with moderate to heavy intensity rain in Delhi-NCR during the next two hours. Earlier, the India Meteorological Department (IMD) predicted light to moderate rainfall at many places in Delhi during the next 12 hours."Light to moderate rainfall (upto 2 cm) is likely at many places of Delhi during next 12 hours. Moderate rainfall (3-5 cm) also likely at isolated places of Delhi during next 12 hours," IMD tweeted.Meanwhile, the Taliban have reportedly cancelled the inauguration ceremony of their newly formed interim government in Afghanistan.Earlier, it was speculated that the inauguration ceremony is going to be held on September 11, the 20th anniversary of the 9/11 terror attacks.Russia’s TASS news agency on Friday cited a comment by Inamullah Samangani, a member of the Taliban's cultural commission, and reported that the Taliban have cancelled the inauguration ceremony of their newly formed interim government in Afghanistan.

Maharashtra CM Hold Urgent Meet With Police Official In Wake Of Mumbai Rape Case

Maharashtra Chief Minister Uddhav Thackeray has called an urgent meeting of all senior Police officers in Mumbai in the wake of the rape of a 30-year-old woman in Mumbai's Sakinaka.

The Chief Minister also directed the police to be more vigilant and take measures for the safety of women to ensure that Mumbai does not tarnish its image as a safe city, Chief Minister's Secretariat said.

"During the '2+2' dialogue we also exchanged views on developments in our neighbouring regions. Afghanistan was understandably a major subject of discussion. We agreed that international community must be united in its approach, guided by UN Security Council Resolution 2593": EAM S Jaishankar said.

Before this, Australian Foreign Minister Marise Payne had said that Australian & India share a positive vision of free, open & secure Indo pacific. "Last month saw fall of Kabul, future of Afghanistan remains central concern," she added. 

"We share strong interests in ensuring that Afghan, never again becomes safe haven for breeding, training of terrorists. We're also very focused on seeking safe passage for citizens, foreign nationals, visa holders of other countries who seek to leave Afghanistan": Australian FM said.

"In relation to the position of women & girls, for 20 years we've worked with the intl community & people of Afghanistan to ensure better circumstances for women. Australia stands with international community in seeking to ensure that it does not round back" the Australian Foreign Minister added.
