Jammu bus stand blast highlights: Grenade explosion injures 19; area cordoned off

5 out of 19 injured are said to be in critical situation. Treatment underway at the nearby government hospital. Alert has been announced in Jammu.
Bomb squads have reached the spot and a liver of grenade has been found near the bus ticket booking counter.
After an interruption of a few hours, bus services have resumed in the area where the blast took place. Police have taken control of the entire area and travel services have resumed.
While speaking to media, Police said the entire area has been cordoned off and the injured have been rushed to the nearby government hospital.

According to sources, grenade was thrown from outside. It was possibly rolled beneath the bus before the blast. No information on people who carried out the attack yet.
This is third blast in a span of nine months in the Valley. Though Police said that there were 'generic inputs', but no specific intel was available regarding the blast.

As per latest reports, nineteen people were injured in the explosion the took place inside a bus. The injured have been admitted to a nearby hospital. The police has cordoned off the area around the bus stand. A team of forensic experts reached the spot to investigate the blast.

According to eyewitnesses, a loud explosion was heard inside a bus. Initially, people thought it was a tyre burst but when they reached the spot it was found out that a grenade has exploded there.

"It was a grenade explosion, it has caused injuries to approximately 18 people, all shifted to hospital," MK Sinha, Inspector General of Police (IGP), Jammu said. A senior police official said that the forces are working on gathering information on who could be possible behind carrying out the blast.






"I thought it was a tyre burst. it was a big blast. The locals took the injured to the hospital in an ambulance," news agency ANI quoted one of the eyewitnesses as saying.






The law and order situation in the state is off the hook after security forces carried out a major crackdown on terror outfits and separatist leaders post the dastardly terror attack on a CRPF convey in Pulwama, which accounted for the lives of over 40 CRPF personnel. There have been reports of over 50 cease fire violations by Pakistan along the Line of Control and the international border in both J-K and Punjab.
