Delhi on Friday reported 977 fresh COVID-19 cases and 12 more deaths, while the positivity rate dropped to 1.73 per cent, according to data shared by the city health department.


With this, the national capital's case count increased to 18,49,596 and the death toll climbed to 26,047, the latest health bulletin stated.


The number of COVID-19 tests conducted a day ago was 56,444, it said.

Coronavirus LIVE: Karntaka Logs 5,019 New Covid Cases, 39 Deaths

 Karnataka logged 5,019 new Covid cases against 13,923 discharges on Thursday as well as 39 deaths.

The positivity rate for the day stood at 4.25 per cent and case fatality rate was 0.77 per cent.

The number of total active cases in the state stood at 52,013.

The number of new cases in Bengaluru Urban district stood at 2,315 against 5,739 discharges. Bengaluru recorded 17 deaths in the last 24 hours.

No other district registered cases in four digits.

Coronavirus LIVE: Tamil Nadu Covid Cases Fall To 3592 In Last 24 Hrs

Tamil Nadu on Thursday added 3,592 new Covid-19 infections including four returnees from West Bengal, pushing the caseload to 34,28,068, while 25 more fatalities took the death toll to 37,862, the Health department said.

Recoveries eclipsed new cases with 14,182 people getting discharged in the last 24 hours, aggregating to 33,23,214 leaving 66,992 active infections, a medical bulletin said.

Chennai and Coimbatore accounted for the majority of new coronavirus infections at 663 and 654 cases, respectively, while the remaining were spread across other districts.

Perambalur and Tenkasi recorded the least by adding seven new cases, each.

Continuing with the decreasing trend of the country, Delhi recorded 1,104 fresh COVID-19 cases with a positivity rate of 2.09 per cent on Thursday, while 12 more people succumbed to the infection, according to data shared by the city health department

With this, the national capital's coronavirus case count increased to 18,48,619 and the death toll climbed to 26,035, the latest bulletin stated.

As many as 52,848 COVID-19 tests were conducted in the city the previous day, it said.

Delhi had on Wednesday reported 1,317 fresh COVID-19 cases with a positivity rate of 2.11 per cent, while 13 more people had succumbed to the viral disease.


The cumulative number of COVID-19 vaccine doses administered in the country is nearing 172 crore, the Union health ministry said on Thursday.

More than 43 lakh (43,78,909) vaccine doses were administered till 7 pm on Thursday, it said, adding that the daily vaccination tally is expected to go up with the compilation of the final reports by late night.

More than 1.64 crore (1,64,61,231) precaution doses of the vaccines have been administered to the healthcare workers (HCWs), the frontline workers (FLWs)and those aged 60 years and above with comorbidities.

The countrywide vaccination drive against the viral disease was rolled out on January 16 last year with the HCWs getting inoculated in the first phase.

The vaccination of FLWs started from February 2 last year.
