Coronavirus Highlights: Delhi Logs 18,286 Fresh Covid Cases, Positivity Rate Dropped To 27.87 Per Cent

Delhi on Sunday reported 18,286 COVID-19 cases and 28 deaths, while the positivity rate dropped to 27.87 per cent from 30.64 per cent a day ago, according to health department data.
On India's one year of covid vaccination drive, Dr Balram Bhargava, DG, ICMR said, "It's the largest vaccination drive in the world. We've administered over 156 cr doses in a year and were able to provide vaccines to over 100 countries in line with our philosophy of 'Vasudhaiva Kutumbakam',"
The Prime Minister also tweeted: "India’s approach to fighting the pandemic will always remain science based. We are also augmenting health infrastructure to ensure our fellow citizens get proper care. Let us keep following all COVID-19 related protocols and overcome the pandemic. #1YearOfVaccineDrive"
The Prime Minister also tweeted: "At the same time, the role of our doctors, nurses and healthcare workers is exceptional. When we see glimpses of people being vaccinated in remote areas, or our healthcare workers taking the vaccines there, our hearts and minds are filled with pride."

The Election Commission of India on Saturday extended the ban imposed on physical rallies and roadshows till January 22, in view of rising cases of Covid-19.
However, the ECI has granted relaxation for the political parties to hold indoor meetings with a maximum of 300 persons or 50 percent of the capacity of the hall or the prescribed limit set by the State Disaster Management Authority (SDMA).
The active Covid cases rise to 93,407 in the national capital and the positivity rate remains at 30.64%.
Around 69,554 Covid patients are in home isolation, while 2,508 have been admitted in the hospitals with the infection, as per the health bulletin released by the Delhi government.
Maharashtra, one of the worst affected state recorded 42,462 new Coronavirus cases and 23 fresh fatalities. Meanwhile, the active caseload stands at 2,64,441.
The state also reported 125 new cases of the Omicron variant of Coronavirus, raising the overall count to 1,730.
India, on January 16 completed a year of administering Covid-19 vaccines to its citizens. India has registered 156 crore vaccine doses so far.
