The national capital's stock of anti-coronavirus vaccine will last for four days, according to a COVID Vaccination Bulletin issued by the Delhi government on Thursday.
As of Thursday morning, the balance stock of Covaxin and Covishield were 2,17,030 and 6,09,610 doses respectively. The bulletin noted that only 20 per cent of Covaxin stock could be used for the first dose since it was limited and had irregular delivery cycles.
Covishield could only be used for the second dose till July 31, since the stock was limited and many in the 18-44 year age group would be qualifying for the second dose of vaccine in the coming weeks, it said.
In all, the Delhi government has received 97,36,740 doses of vaccine to date, out of which 24,18,670 doses were of Covaxin, and the remaining Covishield. According to the bulletin, 1,60,070 doses of Covishield were added to the stock on Wednesday.
Kerala reports 22,064 new Covid-19 cases, 16,649 recoveries and 128 deaths in the last 24 hours.

Union Health Secretary Rajesh Bhushan writes to the Kerala government on "super spreader events" observed in Kerala recently. "Union Government is sending a 6-member team to Kerala headed by Director, National Centre for Disease Control. As a large number of COVID cases are still being reported in Kerala, the team will aid the state’s ongoing efforts in COVID management," Union Health Minister Mansukh Mandaviya said.
Complete lockdown to be imposed in Kerala on 31st July and 1st August due to rising COVID-19 cases. This comes as the state reported more than 20,000 cases for 2 consecutive days, accounting for nearly 50 percent of daily infections reported in India.
Mumbai: Maharashtra Cabinet Minister Aslam Shaikh on Wednesday hinted that fully vaccinated passengers could be permitted to travel unrestricted in suburban train services within two to three days.
Speaking to the media, Shaikh said in the state cabinet meeting, a detailed discussion took place over the opening of Mumbai local train and Brihanmumbai Electric Supply and Transport (BEST) buses for fully vaccinated individuals.
"As a Minister, I am also of the view that person whose two doses are completed should be allowed to travel in Mumbai local, we have also informed Chief Minister about this. After studying the report by the task force, a decision on Mumbai local will be taken in next two to three days," said Shaikh, who is Guardian Minister of Mumbai.
He informed that the restrictions that were brought four months ago amid the rise of COVID-19 cases in the city have been slowly relaxed. "Timings in restaurants also must be increased. A decision will be taken soon," he added.
Notably, local train services, which are also called the lifeline of Mumbai, are currently operational for just essential service employees due to the corona outbreak. Recently, the demand for resumption of suburban train services for the general public has been gaining steam. (ANI)
Washington: American biopharmaceutical company Pfizer has said a third dose of its Covid-19 vaccine can "strongly" boost protection against the Delta variant.
Antibody levels against the Delta variant in people aged 18 to 55 who receive a third dose of the Pfizer/BioNTech vaccine are greater than five-fold than following a second dose, according to data posted at the company's teleconference, Xinhua reported.
Among people aged 65 to 85, the Pfizer data suggest that antibody levels against the Delta variant after receiving a third dose are greater than 11-fold than following a second dose.
Pfizer anticipates applying for emergency use authorization for a third dose of its vaccine as soon as next month, Mikael Dolsten, who leads worldwide research, development and medical for Pfizer, was quoted by CNN as saying at the teleconference. (IANS)

Coronavirus LIVE Thursday, July 29: Maharashtra reported 6,857 new coronavirus infections and 286 fresh fatalities on Wednesday, taking the tally of cases to 62,82,914 and the death toll to 1,32,145, a state health department official said.
The state witnessed a rise in new COVID-19 cases and fatalities as compared to Tuesday, when it had reported 6,258 infections and 254 deaths.
With 6,105 patients getting discharged from hospitals during the day, the count of recoveries in Maharashtra went up to 60,64,856, leaving the state with 82,545 active cases, the official said.
According to the official, the state has 4,88,537 people in home quarantine and 3,364 in institutional quarantine.
Maharashtra's coronavirus recovery rate now stands at 96.53 per cent, while the fatality rate is 2.01 per cent.
The national capital on Wednesday reported 67 fresh COVID-19 cases and three deaths in the last 24 hours, as per the Delhi Health Department.
With this, the total COVID-19 cases in the national capital mounted to 14,36,093 including 573 active cases.
The cumulative recoveries in the city due to this virus escalated to 14,10,471 including 61 fresh recoveries. In the last 24 hours, 52,533 tests were conducted and a positivity rate of 0.09 per cent was reported.
The death toll in the capital touched 25,049 including the new death. The case fatality rate now stands at 1.74 per cent.
On the other hand, there seems to be no reduction in the number of daily COVID cases in Kerala as on Wednesday, the figure crossed 20,000 for the second successive day.
A statement issued here by Chief Minister Pinarayi Vijayan said 22,056 people turned positive after 1,96,902 samples were sent for testing in the past 24 hours.
On Tuesday, 22,129 people had turned positive
The only solace on Wednesday was that the test positivity rate fell from 12.35 per cent on Tuesday to 11.20 per cent.
Presently, there were 1,49,534 active cases, after 17,761 more recovered, taking the total cured in the state to 31,60,804.
Another 131 COVID deaths were reported, taking the death toll to 16,457.
Following the number of samples going for testing suddenly going up, there was a spurt in cases in every Kerala district with Malappuram district leading with 3,931 cases, followed by Trissur with 3,005.
