Explained: New Digital Competition Bill To Regulate Big Tech Firms Like Google, Apple

Committee has recommended formation of a new Digital Competition Law, by introducing an 'ex-ante framework' to disallow certain unethical practices from being pursued or tailored for large digital enterprises.

The Ministry of Corporate Affairs (MCA) on March 12 invited public comments on the Digital Competition Law (CDCL) Committee report and the Draft Bill on New Digital Competition Law. The Committee was constituted on the recommendations of 53rd report of the Parliamentary Standing Committee on Finance on the subject titled ‘Anti- Competitive Practices by Big Tech Companies’ to examine the need for a separate law on competition in digital markets.  The committee has
