What Is Inner Line Permit? Why Supreme Court Sought Manipur Govt's Stand On Its Removal

The Supreme Court has granted 8 more weeks to the Manipur government to provide its stance on the same.

The Supreme Court on Wednesday granted eight weeks time to the Manipur government to respond to a plea challenging the system of Inner Line Permit (ILP) in the state. In January, 2022 the top court had issued notices to the Centre and the Manipur government and others on a plea seeking removal of the ILP regime from the state. A bench of justices Hrishikesh Roy and SVN Bhatti granted 8 more weeks to the government, seeking its stance on the same, after the state counsel requested for more
