Tunisha Sharma Suicide Case Highlights: Vasai Court Sent Sheezan Khan To Judicial Custody For 14 Days
Tunisha Sharma was discovered dead on the set of the popular TV show ‘Ali Baba: Daastan-E-Kabul’ on December 24.
Sheezan Khan, the prime suspect in Tunisha Sharma's suicide case, has been remanded to detention for a period of 14 days. Following claims made against him by Tunisha's mother Vanita on Friday, his police custody was increased by one day. "TV actor Tunisha Sharma death case | Vasai Court sent accused Sheezan to judicial custody for 14 days," news agency ANI wrote in a tweet.
Kanwar Dhillon is the most recent person to be investigated by the police in the Tunisha Sharma suicide case. As per ABP News reporters, Kanwar did not divulge details about the questioning to the media. Kanwar was summoned to the Vasai police station for investigation related to the case.
Kanwar and Tunisha have worked togther in TV shows. As per reports, Kanwar was also one of the first persons with whom Tunisha spoke about her depression.
According to Waliv Police, Tunisha Sharma and her ex-boyfriend, Sheezan Khan had a heated fight before the actor's death. Police told news agency ANI that they had also found CCTV footage from the incident.
Actor Sayantani Ghosh spoke about Tunisha Sharma, who died by suicide on the 'Ali Baba: Dastaan-E-Kabul' set on December 24. I still can’t believe it. The heaviness is just pulling me down. I want to cry it out loud, but I’m unable to cry. I wish this was a bad dream and I woke up,” Ghosh said.
“She was like a butterfly, always chirpy, and had a wide smile on her face. She would come and hug everyone on set. She was very dedicated to her work and that’s what I remember her as. This is beyond acceptance, I see her smiling face," the actor added.
ANI reports that it has been evident during the course of the investigation into the suicide case of Tunisha Sharma that Sheezan is not a suspect in any criminal proceedings.
"In the investigation, it has become clear that Police has no evidence against Sheezan. All allegations made by Tunisha's mother are baseless. Police is investigating the case, we should wait. I am very confident that Sheezan will be proven not guilty," accused Sheezan's advocate said.
The Vasai court has ordered the accused Shezaan Khan to remain in police custody till tomorrow.
The late actress Tunisha's mother, Vanita Sharma, said that there was "pressure" on her daughter to become a Muslim. She told the media that her ex-boyfriend Sheezan Khan and his family were always bothering Tunisha in different ways. She said that they forced her to do things against her will and put pressure on her to convert to Islam.
She also said Tunisha had started calling Sheezan's mother, 'Ammi' and she was being taught Muslim customs. His mother also took Tunisha to the Dargah.
ANI quoted Tunisha’s Mother Vanita Sharma saying, "I will not sit quietly until Sheezan is punished. Tunisha checked his phone once & found that he was cheating on her. On questioning Sheezan, he slapped her. My daughter had no disease. I will not spare Sheezan. My daughter has gone, I'm alone now."
Union minister Ramdas Athawale met with the family of late actor Tunisha Sharma on Thursday. After the meeting, he talked to the media. PTI quoted him as saying, "Her mother is totally devastated at the loss. The state government must give her Rs 25 lakh as compensation. My Republican Party of India (Athawale) will give her Rs 3 lakh. We want the state government to appoint Ujjwal Nikam as special public prosecutor to ensure Tunisha gets justice."
Tunisha Sharma's mother Vinita spoke with India TV about her last conversation with Tunisha. Vinta spoke to her daughter before lunch on the day of her demise. Vinita told the channel that Tunisha had mentioned her desire to go to Chandigarh for Christmas. "I was feeling anxious the whole day after I spoke to her. I was undecided about whether to go on set or stay at home. I decided to call the EP (Executive Producer) to ask about Tunisha's schedule. I was taken aback when I got a call from the set that my daughter has been taken to the hospital,"Vinita said.
Vinita Sharma also revealed that Tunisha had told her mother that Sheezan's mother kept calling her. In the same interaction, Vinita said, "She (Tunisha) was working on the show even after her break up. Shezaan Khan's mother is involved in this. Tunisha decorated Sheezan's home for his birthday. She bought him expensive gifts. I did not understand what was happening. She was wearing niqab. She was slowly accepting their religion. She got involved too much with Sheezan and his family. My daughter was never like this. He knew that my daughter was from another religion before they started the relationship. Tunisha told me that Sheezan's mother was calling and troubling her. Even I spoke to Sheezan's mother but she outrightly denied it."
While speaking to the news agency ANI, Vanita said that Sheezan "used to consume drugs". She was unable to confirm how long he had used drugs, though.
The police stated that a note written by Tunisha was found, on which Sheezan's name was written on one side and the words "He Is blessed to have me as a co-actor Woohoo" were written on the other.
According to the police, following Tunisha's demise, Sheezan also deleted WhatsApp chats with a woman he used to have lengthy phone conversations. "We will have to question that women too. We have also retrieved the chat that he had deleted," police said.
Sheezan Khan's custody was extended by a Vasai court by two days, and according to reports, he would remain in police custody until December 30. Upon receiving a complaint from Tunisha Sharma's mother, the Waliv police detained him.

On Sunday, the All Indian Cine Workers Association (AICWA) made a request to the government of Maharashtra, asking for the formation of a Special Investigation Team (SIT) to look into Tunisha Sharma's murder.
After a tea break, Tunisha Sharma was found hanging on the set. Tunisha died in her lover Sheezan's makeup room, according to media sources. Unfortunately for his shot, Sheezan had already left the room. After returning to the room, Sheezan knocked but got no response. When he finally broke in, he discovered the actress's corpse hanging. Following this, he quickly sought the help of other cast members in transporting Tunisha to a nearby hospital.
Tunisha, who grew up in Chandigarh, started her acting career at a very early age. In 2016 she made her film debut with 'Fitoor', playing the young Firdaus, the role played by Katrina Kaif in the latter part of the film.
Meanwhile, Tunisha Sharma's last rites was performed on Tuesday at roughly 3 p.m. in Mumbai's Mira Road.
