Kaushik earned his comic actor stripes early in his film career with the memorable role of Calendar the cook in the 1988 film “Mr India”. He was so loved in that role that there was a time he was only offered comic roles.


The names were many and catchy – besides Calendar was Pappu Pager from "Deewana Mastana", Airport in "Swarg", Panipuri Sharma in "Andaz", Harpal 'Happy' Singh in "Pardesi Babu", Sharafat Ali in "Bade Miyan Chhote Miyan", and German in "Hum Aapke Dil Mein Rehte Hain".

Satish Kaushik Funeral: Late Actor Cremated At 8:15 PM

Satish Kaushik was cremated at 8:15 pm on Thursday in Mumbai. Family and close friends attend the late actor's last rites. New agency ANI tweeted, "The last rites of actor Satish Kaushik were conducted in Mumbai today in the presence of his family and friends." As per reports, Satish's best friend Anupam Kher was inconsolable.

Satish Kaushik once spoke with the Lucknow Times about the death of his son, Shanu Kaushik, and how he was unable to grieve. The star of Hindi cinema said that he was at the pinnacle of his career when the tragedy struck, but that he was unable to deal with it at the time due to the demands of his job. The actor explained how he had become more relaxed after cutting down on his partying. 


Satish Kaushik said, “I avoid going to parties now, I have become calmer. I even control my diet and drinking because of her. I had lost my son 20 years back, when I was at the peak of my career. I couldn’t really get time to even feel that loss. I used to be continuously busy with work and this would make me feel guilty: I didn’t even have the time to mourn my son’s death.”

An emotional Anupam Kher, who also broke the news of Satish Kaushik's death on social media, talked about how unbelievable it is for him that his dear friend is no more.


Talking to ABP Live, the actor said, "To even talk about it (Satish Kaushik's dear) is a weird feeling. Last night, around 2.00 am, my house help answered a call, I was asleep, and he told me that Satish ji chale gaye hai, I thought he has come home, so I asked him to make him sit as I come to see him, I was wondering why he's come home at 2 in the night, but my house help said ‘Satish ji is gone’. The day before yesterday he had visited my house for dinner, on my birthday. Bads mushkil hai aisa dost milna, aisa insaan milna. Post Mortem Report Of Satish Kaushik States Heart Attack As Cause Of Death

In order to conduct a postmortem, the actor's body was moved from Fortis in New Delhi to the Deen Dayal Upadhyay Hospital. 


As per news agency ANI, post-mortem of actor Satish Kaushik is over. The initial report suggests no injury mark was found over the body. Reports stated cardiac arrest as the cause of death of the actor.

Delhi Police Rules Out Foul Play In Satish Kaushik's Death, Investigation Underway

The South West Police is probing the death of Satish Kaushik. The actor-filmmaker fell ill around 11 pm after playing Holi at Bijwasan's farm house.


The police do not have any information at present about all that happened during the day. On complaining of uneasiness, Satish Kaushik was taken to Fortis Hospital in Gurugram by the people with whom he was throughout the day.


Satish Kaushik breathed his last on his way to the hospital, before entering Fortis.


The police was informed by the hospital authorities and because he had gone from Delhi, the Delhi Police decided that his postmortem would be done by the Medical Board at Deen Dayal Hospital, Harinagar, Delhi.


In the initial investigation, however, police sources say nothing suspicious has been found.


The police officials have said that the time of death, what was eaten and drank, cause of death will be clear only after postmortem, so nothing can be said at this stage.


With the investigation underway, the police is in touch with people who accompanied Satish Kaushik to the hospital and were with him at the time of his demise.

Satish Kaushik On 'Relations Being Worth More Than Money'

Satish Kaushik remarked on the failure of his Boney Kapoor-backed directorial efforts, including ‘Roop Ki Rani Choron Ka Raja’ (1993) and ‘Prem’ (1995). Not only did he not express any regret, but he also claimed that Boney and Anil "didn't have any agenda against" him, despite the fact that they were blamed for the postponement of ‘Roop Ki Rani Choron Ka Raja’ and ‘Prem's works.


In an interview with Filmfare in 2014, Satish said, “I learnt that relations are worth more than success or money. I didn’t direct for a long time. But I didn’t rebel because I knew Boney and Anil didn’t have any agenda against me per se."

Neena Gupta, in her autobiography, ‘Sach Kaun Toh’, wrote about her friendship with Satish Kaushik. She revealed that he offered to marry her when she was expecting her daughter Masaba Gupta out of wedlock.


“Don’t worry, if the child is born with dark skin, you can just say it’s mine and we’ll get married. Nobody will suspect a thing,” Kaushik told Gupta. Background

New Delhi: Actor and filmmaker Satish Kaushik, known for his performances in 'Mr. India', 'Saajan Chale Sasural' and others, left for his heavenly abode during the early hours of Thursday, March 9, in Gurgaon after suffering a heart attack. He was 66 years old.


A well-known face in Bollywood, Satish Kaushik had a notable career as an actor, filmmaker, comedian and screenwriter. The actor's mortal remains are currently at Delhi's Fortis Hospital which will be taken to Mumbai following post-mortem afternoon where his last rites will be performed.


Veteran actor and a close friend Anupam Kher broke the news of Satish Kaushik's sad demise on social media. He wrote, "जानता हूँ “मृत्यु ही इस दुनिया का अंतिम सच है!” पर ये बात मैं जीते जी कभी अपने जिगरी दोस्त #SatishKaushik के बारे में लिखूँगा, ये मैंने सपने में भी नहीं सोचा था।45 साल की दोस्ती पर ऐसे अचानक पूर्णविराम !! From Rakesh Roshan to Soni Razdan and Jugal Hansraj, several celebs commented on Anupam Kher's post. Filmmaker Subhash Ghai also paid tribute to the veteran actor.


Satish Kaushik began his cinematic career in the early 1980s and was a graduate of the NSD and the FTII. He was born in Haryana.


He wrote the dialogue for the iconic 1983 film "Jaane Bhi Do Yaaron," which over time developed a cult following.


His comedic roles include "Calendar" in 'Mr. India,' 'Pappu Pager' in 'Deewana Mastana,' and many others. In other movies like 'Ram Lakhan' and 'Saajan Chale Sasural,' Kaushik also gave excellent performances.


He was the director of the unsuccessful films 'Roop Ki Rani, Choron Ka Raja' and 'Prem,' starring Sridevi, but he achieved success with the films 'Hum Aapke Dil Me Rehte Hain', 'Hamara Dil Aapke Paas Hai' and Salman Khan starrer blockbuster drama 'Tere Naam', among many more.
