New Delhi: After announcing the Congress' first list of candidates for the upcoming Uttar Pradesh assembly elections 2022, Party General Secretary Priyanka Gandhi Vadra highlighted the party's campaign vision in the state.
Calling the Yogi Adityanth-led BJP government in UP "dictatorial", Priyanka Gandhi said that the focus of Congress is to bring people's issues, women, and development to centerstage in Uttar Pradesh.
"We will not run a negative campaign. We will run a positive campaign for the bright future of Uttar Pradesh," Priyanka Gandhi said in her press conference.
Priyanka said that Congress has chosen women candidates after seeing their ability to win and fight.
"We have tried to field such candidates who have struggled for seeking justice in Uttar Pradesh and have the power to fight," she said. "In UP elections, every party is talking about women, this is our success," she further said.
When asked whether Congress will support any other party after the UP elections to remove the government, Priyanka Gandhi replied, "Of course! Why not."
"Is Congress aiming to play a role in the next government of UP? Randeep Surjewala had said that the next government will not be formed without the Congress," a reporter asked Priyanka to which she replied, "Yes, this is our goal."
On the question of leaders leaving Congress, Priyanka said, "This happens in every election. Some people come, some people go. Some get scared. Our struggle requires courage. It hurts when someone leaves."
