A voter turnout of 18.72 per cent was recorded in Mainpuri Lok Sabha seat, as per the data shared by Election Commission, where byelections are taking place after the demise of Samajwadi patriarch Mulayam Singh Yadav.
Pragatisheel Samajwadi Party chief Shivpal Singh Yadav alleged that the polling process in Mainpuri has been under administrative pressure and that his party workers were attacked by the police.
"Administrative pressure so far, our workers were attacked. I alerted them last night to not get caught by Police, reach booths at 7 am & facilitate voting. People loved Netaji (Mulayam Yadav). They'll make Dimple win by huge margin," Yadav told news agency ANI.

Polling for bypolls in Rampur Sadar is underway which were necessitated after SP MLA Azam Khan was disqualified.
Samajwadi Party MP Ram Gopal Yadav cast his vote for the Mainpuri bypolls. " "Dimple Yadav (party's candidate for the by-election) will win with three times more votes than what Netaji (Mulayam Singh Yadav) used to get," he said.
"Police-admin doing manipulation. EC had directed that deployment for duties be randomised.But when polling parties arrived, around 2000 of the staff was stopped & held back as reserves as they had Yadav surname. they forget that not only Yadavs but everyone votes for SP," he said.
"In Mainpuri, they weren't allowing agents at booths 141, 142, 143, 144, 145, 146. We spoke to Returning Officer, I'll find out if it was later allowed. Similarly, BJP goons came to powerhouse of Mainpuri in inebriated state & pushed our agent out.Police&admn are no help," Yadav added.
"They don't even allow casting of votes in Rampur. Beating up of people started y'day. SSP there is the one who was removed from Firozabad on my complaint during polls. This SSP was there the last time too & even now. There is nobody to listen but public is supreme," he said.
Samajwadi Party patron, the late Mulayam Singh's brother, Abhay Ram Singh reached the polling booth at Abhinav Vidyalaya in Etawah's Saifai to cast his vote.
"SP is going to win by a huge margin. There is no competition with any other political party," he said.
As the bypolls to three seats, one Lok Sabha and two Assembly seats are underway in Uttar Pradesh, Samajwadi Party leader Azam Khan alleged that the police is telling people not to vote, reported news agency ANI.
"Barbarism being done and people being arrested, beaten up. Police are going to colonies and telling people not to step out to vote. People in one colony locked up their houses and migrated in fear. They are saying it everywhere to not cast votes," he said .
On the two Assembly seats, Rampur Sadar and Khatauli, and one Lok Sabha seat, Rampur, in Uttar Pradesh the contest is directly between the Bharatiya Janata Party and Samajwadi Party, and Rashtriya Lok Dal alliance.
Bahujan Samaj Party and Congress are out of the contest.

This includes 13.14 lakh male voters, 11.29 lakh female voters and 132 third-category voters. Voting will take place at 3,062 polling booths located in 1,945 polling centres.
Mainpuri Lok Sabha Seat Bypoll
The bypoll to the Mainpuri parliamentary seat is taking place due to the death of Samajwadi Party (SP) founder Mulayam Singh Yadav. In Mainpuri, there are six candidates in the fray. Mulayam Singh Yadav's elder daughter-in-law and SP president Akhilesh Yadav's wife Dimple Yadav is pitted against BJP's Raghuraj Singh Shakya. The BJP candidate, who was once a close associate of Pragatisheel Samajwadi Party chief and Akhilesh Yadav's uncle Shivpal Singh Yadav, joined the saffron party ahead of the Uttar Pradesh assembly polls held earlier this year.
Rampur Sadar Vidhan Sabha Seat Bypoll
In Rampur Sadar, the polls were necessitated after SP MLA Azam Khan was disqualified following his conviction in a hate speech case. Khan was disqualified after a court awarded him three-year imprisonment in a 2019 hate speech case. 10 candidates are in the fray from the Rampur Sadar assembly seat. The BJP in Rampur Sadar has fielded Akash Saxena, who is the son of former party MLA Shiv Bahadur Saxena, against senior SP leader Azam Khan's protege Asim Raja.
Khatauli Vidhan Sabha Seat Bypoll
In Khatauli, the poll was necessitated after BJP MLA Vikram Singh Saini was disqualified following his conviction. Saini lost his membership in the assembly after his conviction in the 2013 Muzaffarnagar riots case. 14 candidates are contesting from the Khatauli assembly seat. In Khatauli, the fight is between Vikram Singh Saini's wife Rajkumari Saini and Madan Bhaiya from the RLD.
