New Delhi: The Lok Sabha election 2024 in Punjab was held on 1 June in the last phase to elect 13 members of 18th Lok Sabha. The state witnessed a competitive four-way race, with prominent parties such as AAP, Congress, BJP, and SAD contesting independently.
Another crucial aspect of the Lok Sabha polling in Punjab this time is that the Bharatiya Janata Party, for the very first time, contested the elections without its long-standing ally Shiromani Akali Dal.
ABP-Cvoter survey has predicted a sweeping victory for the I.N.D.I.A Bloc, forecasting that the opposition will secure 6-8 out of the 13 Lok Sabha constituencies.
The previous general election was held in May 2019 in Punjab, in which the Indian National Congress won 8 seats, followed by the Shiromani Akali Dal and the Bharatiya Janata Party, which won 2 seats each.
