Background
Mizoram Election Results 2023 Winner List Highlights: The vote counting for the Mizoram assembly polls will begin today, December 4, 2023. Earlier, the counting was scheduled for December 3 but it shifted to December 4 after EC received several requests. The NGO Coordination Committee (NGOCC), leading the effort for a peaceful alteration in the Mizoram assembly election vote counting date, expressed contentment following the Election Commission of India's decision to postpone the date by a day. Numerous political parties, churches, civil society organizations, and student bodies in Mizoram had collectively advocated for shifting the vote counting date from December 3, recognizing it as a Sunday, a revered day in the Christian-majority state.
Conducted in a single phase on November 7, the elections witnessed an impressive turnout, with over 80 percent of the 8.57 lakh eligible voters exercising their franchise. As per the ABP-CVoter exit poll, the MNF, holding a significant position in the hill state, is estimated to secure around 15 to 21 seats. The regional ZMP is expected to claim 12 to 18 seats, while the Congress might secure 2 to 8 seats. Meanwhile, the BJP, with limited influence in the northeastern state, is projected to win 0 to 5 seats.
Mizoram Election 2023 recorded a substantial 77 percent voter turnout as citizens cast their votes across the 40 assembly seats on November 7. The pivotal counting of votes is slated for December 3.
