The Zoram People's Movement (ZPM) emerged victorious in the Mizoram elections, securing 27 seats out of 40 and unseating the Mizo National Front (MNF) from power. Lalduhoma, the ZPM's Chief Ministerial candidate, claimed victory in the Serchhip constituency by defeating MNF's J Malsawmzuala Vanchhawng by 2,982 votes. The ruling MNF managed to win nine seats and was leading in one, while the BJP secured victories in the Palak and Saiha constituencies. The Indian National Congress secured the Lawngtlai West seat. Notable losses for the MNF included Deputy Chief Minister Tawnluia, Health Minister R Lalthangliana, and Rural Development Minister Laruatkima. Even Chief Minister Zoramthanga faced defeat, losing to ZPM’s Lalthansanga by 2,101 votes, according to the Election Commission results.

Mizoram Results 2023: State BJP president Vanlalhmuaka on Monday said that his party will be a part of the next government in the state. Speaking to PTI, Vanlalhmuaka said he was confident that his party will win at least three seats.
"We are certain that we will win three seats. We are expecting more than five seats. Let's wait for the results, he said. The BJP will participate in the new government which will be formed soon," he said.
Notably, in the last elections in 2018, the BJP had won one seat. The party has fielded candidates on 23 seats this time.
