The voting in the first two hours of seventh phase of Lok Sabha polls remained brisk with Himachal Pradesh leading and Odisha recording the lowest voter turnout. As per the data published by the Election Commission of India, a voter turnout of 11.31 per cent was recorded at 9 am for 57 seats across eight states and Union Territories. 

The voting began at 7 am and will continue till 6 pm. Simultaneous voting for 42 Assembly constituencies in Odisha is also underway. 

The states where voting is taking place includes Bihar (8), Himachal Pradesh (4), Jharkhand (3), Odisha (6), Punjab (13), Uttar Pradesh (13), West Bengal (9), and one seat of Chandigarh.

Approximately 10.06 crore voters will cast their vote at over 1.09 lakh polling station across 57 seats in seven states and the Union Territory of Chandigarh. Among the 10.9 lakh registered voters, around 5.24 crore are males, 4.82 crore females, and 3,574 third-gender electors.
 
Bharatiya Janata Party national president JP Nadda, Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath, Aam Aadmi Party MP Raghav Chadha and cricketer Harbhajan Singh, Suheldev Bharatiya Samaj Party chief Om Prakash Rajbhar, and Samajwadi Party candidate from Ghazipur Afzal Ansari were among the voters who arrived early to cast their vote. 
 
 
As the polling opened at 7 am, Prime Minister Narendra Modi urged voters to cast their vote.

"Together, let's make our democracy more vibrant and participative," the prime minister said on X.

"Today is the final phase of the 2024 Lok Sabha elections. As 57 seats across 8 states and UTs go to the polls, calling upon the voters to turnout in large numbers and vote. I hope young and women voters exercise their franchise in record numbers," he added.
