Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Sunday said INDIA bloc parties want to turn the country's majority community into second-class citizens and also alleged that "jihadis" across the border are supporting the Samajwadi Party and the Congress.
He attacked the parties of the opposition bloc, alleging they are planning to rewrite the Constitution to provide reservation on the basis of religion.
The prime minister was in Uttar Pradesh's Purvanchal region to address rallies in Ghosi, Deoria and Mirzapur in support of BJP and NDA Lok Sabha poll candidates contesting in the seventh and last phase of the general elections on June 1.
"In Pakistan, 'duas' (prayers) are being made for the INDI alliance of Samajwadi Party (SP) and Congress. Jihadis across the border are supporting them. The SP and the Congress are making an appeal for 'vote jihad'," Modi said in an apparent reference to a remark by an INDIA bloc candidate.
"This (INDIA bloc) group is saying that if they come to power, they will reimpose Article 370 in Kashmir. They will repeal the CAA (Citizenship (Amendment) Act) which gives citizenship to the victims of Partition. Whose agenda is this... this is what these anti-India forces want?" he said.
Hitting out at the bloc, Prime Minister Modi claimed the "INDI jamaat" has been abusing him for his opposition to reservation on the basis of religion. (PTI Input)
West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee on Sunday launched a scathing attack on the BJP, asserting that its aspiration to overthrow the democratically elected TMC government after the Lok Sabha polls will remain unfulfilled.
Addressing an election rally here in Jadavpur constituency, Banerjee said that the BJP's speculation that the days of the TMC government were numbered after the Lok Sabha polls was akin to issuing a veiled threat but such ambitions will not materialise.
"BJP should not dare to try to topple a democratically elected government. Its ambitions for success in the Lok Sabha polls will be shattered, as the people's verdict will be with the TMC," she asserted.
"My analysis of the last six phases is that the BJP will not cross the 200-seat mark, while the INDIA bloc will come to power in Delhi, in which West Bengal and TMC will play a pivotal part," she said.
Banerjee claimed that the TMC is solely confronting the BJP in West Bengal, accusing Congress and CPI (M) of clandestinely aligning with the saffron party. (PTI Input)
Union Minister and BJP candidate from Sambalpur Lok Sabha seat Dharmendra Pradhan held a roadshow in Mayurbhanj, Odisha.
Addressing a public rally in Ludhiana, Union Home Minister Amit Shah said that 'Pakistan-occupied Kashmir (PoK) is ours and we will take it'.
He also said: "When I was a little boy, my teacher used to teach us about Punjab. He used to say that Punjab keeps our country safe and fills the stomach of the country. Only Punjab can do both of these... I bow down to Guru Teg Bahadur. He listened to the atrocities faced by Kashmiri Pandits and gave his ultimate sacrifice in Delhi. This is a message for those who speak of Hindu-Sikh. We were saved because of the sacrifices of the Gurus. Those who want to create a difference should understand the life of Guru Teg Bahadur... I also want to remember Maharaja Ranjit Singh... He always protected the dignity of the country..."
Delhi CM and AAP national convenor Arvind Kejriwal addressed a gathering during his roadshow in Hoshiarpur, Punjab. "Two years ago, people gave us a thumping majority and helped Bhagwant Mann form government in Punjab. Out of the 117 Assembly seats, we won 92. I thank everyone for that... Delhi and Punjab, where the AAP is in power, are two states where there is free electricity. This was possible because our party is honest. Several Mohalla Clinics have also opened in Punjab. We have also improved education facilities in the state," he said.
BJP leader Syed Shahnawaz Hussain commented on Congress MP Rahul Gandhi’s upcoming visit to Bihar's Arrah on May 27, saying "His visit will only harm his alliance. Wherever he goes, he makes things tough for himself and his party. He went to Amethi last time and then to Raebareli. His visit to Arrah means that (BJP Lok Sabha candidate) RK Singh is going to win with a huge majority.”
Congress leader Rahul Gandhi will address two poll rallies in Shimla and Hamirpur, Himachal Pradesh today.
Prime Minister Narendra Modi will address three election rallies in Uttar Pradesh today. The first rally will be in Mirzapur at 11 PM, followed by Ghosi at 1 PM, and Bansgaon at 2.30 PM.

BJP Candidate's Convoy Attacked In Bengal's West Midnapore
Senior Bhartiya Janata Party (BJP) leader and Jhargram candidate, Pranat Tudu, was attacked on Saturday in the Garbeta area of West Midnapore district. Tudu revealed that the incident occurred while he was en route to Garbeta following complaints of BJP agents being barred from some polling booths.
Tudu told PTI, "All of a sudden, TMC goons who had blocked the roads started hurling bricks at my car. When my security personnel tried to intervene, they were injured. Two CISF jawans accompanying me received head injuries and had to be hospitalised".
In response, a significant police contingent was dispatched to the area to restore order.
However, the local TMC leadership denied the allegations, accusing Tudu of attempting to disrupt the peaceful polling process. "The BJP nominee was threatening voters. The villagers got enraged and staged a protest," a local TMC leader asserted.
