BJP leader MA Kharabela Swain on Monday announced that he will fight the Lok Sabha elections from the Balasore seat in Odisha as an Independent candidate.He made the announcement a day after the BJP re-nominated its incumbent MP in the seat Pratap Sarangi, a former union minister.I will contest from the Balasore Lok Sabha seat in the upcoming election as an Independent candidate. I will campaign in the name of PM Narendra Modi. Let the people decide who is the real BJP, Swain told a press conference.He said he wouldn't quit the BJP, but the party can take action against him.I will join the BJP after winning the elections, he added, exuding confidence.Swain, a former MP, alleged that a group of conspirators within the BJP were responsible for the denial of ticket to him.He represented the Balasore seat from 1998 to 2009. I would not like to make a comment on it. It is their prerogative. We will go to the elections with all our strength...As far as Kangana Ranaut is concerned, we respect her. She is a very popular actress who has brought laurels to Himachal Pradesh on the silver screen...But this is a political arena...The biggest question is - fielding an actor like this whose priority has been to make films, will she be able to give enough time to 1/3rd of the area of Himachal Pradesh?...I think this is very different from politics. The Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) revealed its candidates for 111 additional Lok Sabha seats in its fifth list. Among the prominent names are actor Kangana Ranaut and industrialist Naveen Jindal, who joined the party on Sunday. Arun Govil, renowned for his portrayal of Ram in the TV serial Ramayan, has been fielded from the Meerut Lok Sabha seat.
Other notable names on the list include Union ministers and senior BJP leaders Nityanand Rai fielded from Ujiarpur, Giriraj Singh from Begusarai, Ravi Shankar Prasad from Patna Sahib, Sita Soren from Dumka, Jagadish Shettar from Belgaum, K Sudhakaran from Chikkaballapur, Dharmendra Pradhan from Sambalpur, Pratap Sarangi from Balasore, Sambit Patra from Puri, and Aparijita Sarangi from Bhubaneswar.
Naveen Jindal, the industrialist and former MP, who switched from the Congress to the BJP, was nominated to contest from Kurukshetra. Meanwhile, Kangana Ranaut will contest from Mandi in Himachal Pradesh.
Notably, former union minister Maneka Gandhi has been nominated from Sultanpur while her Varun Gandhi has been replaced by Jatin Prasada in Pilibhit.
Congress released its fifth list of three candidates for the upcoming Lok Sabha elections.
Pratap Singh Khachariyawas has been fielded from Jaipur, in place of Sunil Sharma. Among the other two candidates are Pratibha Suresh Dhanorkar from Chandrapur seat in Maharashtra, and Murari Lal Meena from Rajasthan's Dausa.
Meanwhile, the Samajwadi Party made changes in its candidate line-up. The SP renominated its Lok Sabha MP from Moradabad S T Hasan from the same seat and changed its Bijnor candidate by fielding Deepak Saini, the son of a party MLA.
The Samajwadi Party had earlier named Yashveer Singh as its candidate from Bijnor.
However, on Sunday, it named Deepak Saini as its candidate for the seat. He is the son of Ram Avtar Saini, the SP legislator from the Noorpur assembly segment that comes under the Bijnor parliamentary constituency.
