Maharashtra Congress writes to the State Chief Electoral Officer for an investigation into an accident involving its leader Nana Patole in Bhandara on 9th April during the Lok Sabha elections campaign. The party urges for a probe to "ascertain whether the accident was a result of natural causes or it was a deliberate conspiracy."
On preparation & arrangements for the upcoming Lok Sabha election, Goa's Chief Electoral Officer Ramesh Verma says, "We have already intensified our efforts on the border areas, our teams are very actively working there. From the day of the announcement of the elections till now we have already seized items worth Rs 12.89 crores...We are trying to pass a message to local people that they can trust their teams. So that we will prove this election is totally free, fair and transparent elections without any inducement..."

Rajasthan Congress treasurer Sitaram Agarwal joined the BJP on Wednesday. Mr. Agarwal was the Congress candidate from Jaipur’s Vidhyadhar Nagar seat in the last assembly elections but lost to the BJP’s Diya Kumari. Along with several of his supporters, Mr. Agarwal joined the party in the presence of Kumari and other leaders of the party, including Narayan Panchariya and Onkar Singh Lakhawat. (PTI Input)
Congress MP and Lok Sabha poll candidate from Nagaon constituency in Assam, Pradyut Bordoloi, has filed a complaint against Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma, alleging that he violated the model code of conduct by offering money to all ration cardholders during the ongoing election campaign.
Bordoloi filed the complaint to the chief election commissioner on Tuesday night, alleging that Sarma, in a public meeting in Lakhimpur during the day, made a promise to transfer Rs 10,000 to the bank accounts of every ration cardholder after the election.
Stating that such assurances are a "clear violation" of MCC, the Congress leader said, "Such promises are not only unethical but also an attempt to influence voters through financial inducements, thereby compromising the integrity of the electoral process".
He urged the ECI to investigate the matter thoroughly and take appropriate action against the chief minister for his "misconduct". (PTI Input)

Maharashtra Chief Minister Eknath Shinde on Tuesday thanked MNS president Raj Thackeray for extending unconditional support to the ruling `Mahayuti' alliance of the BJP, Shiv Sena and NCP and backing Prime Minister Narendra Modi.
Taking a jibe at his rival and former CM Uddhav Thackeray without mentioning his name, Shinde said those counting 'rokad' (money) while sitting at home during COVID-19 have no right to criticise Modi.

I.N.D.I.A. Bloc's Coordination Committee For Goa Meets, Chalks Out Campaign Strategy
The coordination committee of INDIA bloc in Goa met in Panaji on Tuesday to decide the election strategy, hours after it launched its campaign in both the Parliamentary constituencies in the state. The meeting was attended by representatives of Congress, AAP, Goa Forward Party, NCP (Sharadchandra Pawar) and Shiv Sena (UBT).
"We officially started our campaign in both the constituencies today. The kind of participation and response that we received was overwhelming," said Goa Congress chief Amit Patkar, as quoted by PTI. Alliance partners have been coming forward on their own to support both the candidates, he added.
Congress has fielded Ramakant Khalap from North Goa and Viriato Fernandes from South Goa. Patkar said that during the coordination committee meeting, the election program and strategy for the next one month were finalised. Polling in Goa is scheduled on May 7.
The two candidates will file their nominations on April 15 and 16, Patkar said. AAP Goa Chief Amit Palekar said the coordination between the alliance partners was excellent. "All are acting proactively and enthusiastically. Everything is going in the right direction," he said, as quoted by PTI.

Party president Lalu Prasad's daughters - Rohini Acharya and Misa Bharti - are among the RJD nominees.

Bharti, his eldest daughter who is enjoying her second term in the Rajya Sabha, will try her luck in the Patliputra Lok Sabha constituency. A party functionary said that a candidate is yet to be announced for Siwan where the RJD had for years been fielding late Mohd Shahubuddin. After Shahubuddin's disqualification, his widow Heena could never win the seat.
It has been understood that Heena has a strained relationship with Lalu Prasad and his family. As per a seat-sharing arrangement among partners of the Mahagathbandhan, the RJD has kept 26 of Bihar's 40 Lok Sabha seats, leaving nine for Congress and five for the Left parties.
The RJD, last week, struck a deal with former Bihar minister Mukesh Sahni, whose Vikashsheel Insaan Party has been given three seats from its quota.
The RJD declared the names of its candidates for 22 seats at one go, including five where polls are scheduled in the first two phases and for which party nominees have already filed their nomination papers.
Sudhakar Singh got an RJD ticket from the Buxar Lok Sabha seat, while Ali Asharaf Fatmi will contest from Madhubani and Surendra Prasad from Jehanabad.
Also on the list is Anita Kumari Mahto from Munger, who got a party ticket, after tying the knot with a dreaded gangster, Ashok Mahto. Mahto had political ambitions but could not contest on his own because he was convicted in a criminal case.
Names of candidates, including Acharya, Bharti, Sudhakar Singh, Ali Asharaf Fatmi and Surendra Prasad had been known to be approved by the RJD supremo earlier. Other RJD candidates include Kumar Sarvjeet (Gaya), Shrawan Kumar Kushwaha (Nawada), Bima Bharti (Purnea) and Archana Ravidass (Jamui). All four have already filed their nominations.
The RJD also nominated Jai Prakash Yadava from Banka, Lalit Yadav from Darbhanga and Chandrahas Chaupal from Supaul.
The party fielded Vijay Kumar Shukla from Vaishali, Abhay Kumar Kushwaha from Aurangabad, Shichandra Rai from Hajipu and Shahnawaz Alam from Araria.
Alok Kumar Mehta will contest on an RJD ticket from Ujiyarpur, Arjun Ai from Sitamarhi, Deepak Yadav from Valmikinagar, Ritu Jaiswal from Seohar and Kumar Chandradeep from Madhepura. The Lok Sabha elections to 40 seats in Bihar will be held in seven phases between April 19 and June 1.
