Bypolls 2024: Please follow this space for all the latest news and updates on the byelections to 31 assembly seats and Wayanad Lok Sabha seats. The voting began for all the 31 assembly seats and Wayanad Lok Sabha constituency, from where Congress leader Priyanka Gandhi is making her electoral debut. The bypolls have been necessitated in most of the seats after sitting legislators successfully contested the Lok Sabha polls. At the same time, in some constituencies, it is being held due to the death of the representative. Congress leader Rahul Gandhi contested the Lok Sabha polls from Wayanad and Raebareli and won both seats. However, he decided to vacate the Wayanad seat, which his sister Priyanka Gandhi will contest. Voting will be held in nine seats in Uttar Pradesh, seven in Rajasthan, six in West Bengal, five in Assam, four in Bihar, three in Karnataka, two in Madhya Pradesh, and one each in Chhattisgarh, Gujarat, Kerala, and Meghalaya.Two seats in Sikkim were also in the fray, Soreng-Chakung and Namchi-Singhithang. However, Sikkim Krantikari Morcha (SKM) nominees Aditya Golay and Satish Chandra Rai were declared winners unopposed after their rivals withdrew from the race. Competing against Priyanka Gandhi are Left Democratic Front's Sathyan Mokeri and National Democratic Alliance's Navya Haridas among 13 others. Bihar Bypolls: Clash Reported In Tarari Assembly Constituency

A clash has been reported between two parties during the Tarari assembly by-election. During the clash, a youth suffered injuries to his head. The dispute took place over voting for a particular party. ASP KK Singh and other officers have reached the spot. The incident was reported from booth number 223 of Dharmapura village of Bihta Panchayat.

Tarari recorded a voter turnout of 9.53 per cent till 9 AM.

Bengal bypolls: Tension sparked during the polling at booth number 63 of Malancha High School in Naihati. The Trinamool Congress has been accused of assaulting the woman BJP agent posted at the booth. BJP candidate Rupak Mitra has shot an email to the Election Commission informing them of the incident. The TMC, however, claimed that the BJP candidate is making false allegations. As many as 108 companies of central forces have been deployed in Bengal. Thirteen of these have been posted in the Naihati Assembly constituency of North 24 Parganas.
