BJP's Dharmraj Nishad secured victory from the Katehari assembly seat in the Ambedkar Nagar district of Uttar Pradesh by defeating Samajwadi Party leader Shobhawati Varma by a margin of 34,514 votes, according to the Election Commission.
BJP leader Shuchismita Maurya won the assembly bypoll from Uttar Pradesh's Majhawan by 4,922 votes, according to Election Commission of India.

On security arrangements for counting of votes for Karhal assembly bypoll, SP City Rahul Mithas says, "As per EC guidelines, there is a three-tier security arrangement. Barricades and barriers have been placed, counting officials being allowed inside after frisking. CAPF are guarding the strong room. We are confident that the counting process will happen under security."

Early trends show Congress leader Priyanka Gandhi leading, she made her debut in Wayanad, Kerala. Counting of votes cast in Wayanad Lok Sabha, Palakkad and Chelakkara assembly by-elections in Kerala has started. The counting of votes to declare the results for the bypolls to 46 Assembly seats in 13 states and in the Lok Sabha seats of Wayanad in Kerala and Maharashtra's Nanded will start at 8 AM on Saturday, November 23.
The fate of Congress general secretary Priyanka Gandhi Vadra will be revealed today. She was nominated as Congress party's candidate for the Wayanad bypolls after Rahul Gandhi vacated the seat following his Lok Sabha win from Raebareli earlier this year.
The Assembly bypolls in Uttar Pradesh were held at nine seats, including Meerapur, Kundarki, Sisamau, Katehari, Phulpur, Majhawan, Ghaziabad, Karhal and Khair.
In Rajasthan bypolls were held in seven seats, six seats in West Bengal, four seats each in Punjab and Bihar, five seats in Assam, two seats each in Madhya Pradesh and Kerala, three seats in Karnataka. Additionally, one seat each in Chhattisgarh, Uttarakhand, Gujarat, and Meghalaya also went for byelections.
After the row over seat-sharing, the Congress did not contest the bypolls, but extended support to the Samajwadi Party, which contested independently on all nine seats.
Rajasthan bypolls were held for Jhunjhunu, Dausa, Ramgarh, Deoli-Uniara, Salumbar, Khinvsar, and Chaurasi seats, while Punjab bypolls were held for the Dera Baba Nanak, Gidderbaha, Chabbewal, and Barnala Assembly seats on November 20.
In Karnataka, bypolls were held to the Shiggaon, Sandur, and Channapatna Assembly seats on November 13. Karnataka bypoll is a battle of prestige for H D Kumaraswamy, whose son Nikhil contested from Channapatna after facing defeat in earlier contests. The seat was vacated by the JD (S) leader after he was elected to the Lok Sabha.
In West Bengal, Madarihat, Sitai, Naihati, Haroa, Taldangra, and Medinipur Assembly segments went to bypolls on November 13. Kedarnath in Uttarakhand's Rudraprayag district also went to bypolls on Wednesday.
