The Election Commission on Thursday declared the results for all 243 Bihar Assembly seats, delivering a resounding mandate to the National Democratic Alliance (NDA), which secured 202 seats. The Mahagathbandhan could manage only 35 seats, while the All India Majlis-e-Ittehadul Muslimeen (AIMIM) won 5 seats, making its mark in the state for the first time.
The results reflect a decisive preference of Bihar voters, signalling a strong continuation of NDA’s political influence in the state. Analysts suggest that the Mahagathbandhan’s poor performance indicates a need to reassess its strategy ahead of the next electoral battles.
BJP MP Rajiv Pratap Rudy expressed gratitude to the people of Bihar following the NDA’s decisive victory in the Assembly elections.
“The way the people of Bihar have given victory to Prime Minister Modi and Nitish Kumar shows the trust of the people. This win is for the future of Bihar, the youth, and the farmers. Many, many thanks to the people,” Rudy said, highlighting the electorate’s confidence in the alliance’s governance and development agenda.
Union Minister Dharmendra Pradhan praised the people of Bihar following the NDA’s landslide victory in the Assembly elections.
“This is the victory of the people of Bihar. I respectfully welcome Bihar’s commitment to democracy,” Pradhan said. He added that the opposition’s language, issues, rallies, and body language made the NDA confident that the people would reject negative ideologies, paving the way for a massive mandate in favour of development and governance.
The Bihar Assembly election results have brought jubilation for parties in the National Democratic Alliance (NDA). With overwhelming public support, the NDA has secured more than a century of seats, marking a decisive mandate.
Following the results, Union Minister and HAM chief Jitan Ram Manjhi praised Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s leadership, congratulating him on the NDA’s landslide victory in Bihar. Manjhi said the results reflect the people’s trust in the alliance’s development agenda and governance record.
Reacting to the NDA’s decisive win in Bihar, Maharashtra Deputy CM Eknath Shinde said the results show people’s faith in PM Narendra Modi and development-focused governance. Shinde criticised opposition efforts, saying, “Rahul Gandhi went there to catch fish. To all those alleging vote chori, the people have given a befitting reply.” He highlighted the role of women and youth voters, noting that their strong turnout contributed to the NDA’s landslide victory.
Congress leader Rahul Gandhi expressed gratitude to the millions of voters who supported the Mahagathbandhan in Bihar, calling the outcome “truly surprising.”
He said, “We could not achieve victory in an election that was not fair from the very beginning.” Gandhi emphasised that the fight continues “for the protection of the Constitution and democracy,” adding that Congress and the INDIA alliance will conduct a thorough review of the results to make future efforts to safeguard democracy even more effective.
Former poll strategist Prashant Kishor’s much-talked-about Jan Suraaj Party (JSP), projected by many as an ‘X factor’ in the Bihar elections, failed to open its account in the 243-member Assembly.
The party contested 238 seats but did not secure a single win as results poured in.
Tension spiked in Kaimur district as a major clash broke out outside the Bazaar Samiti counting centre in Mohania amid the vote count for the Ramgarh Assembly seat. The confrontation escalated when police resorted to a lathi charge, prompting supporters to retaliate with stone-pelting.
Three constables suffered head injuries in the chaos.
Modi took a sharp swipe at the Congress, saying the party that “ruled the country for decades is steadily losing public trust.” He pointed out that after the 2024 Lok Sabha elections, six states went to polls — and in none of them did Congress manage to cross the 100-seat mark, underscoring what he called the party’s continued decline across India.
Reacting to the NDA’s win in Bihar, Congress MP Tariq Anwar criticised the ruling alliance, alleging that direct cash transfers ahead of polling “influenced voters” in a poor state where “Rs 10,000 is a huge amount.” He said “people’s votes were being bought,” calling the trend harmful for democratic fairness.
Anwar also claimed that the SIR scheme impacted nearly 65 lakh votes, and accused the PM and Home Minister of creating “an atmosphere of fear” by raising the issue of infiltrators during campaigning.
The Election Commission of India has announced results for 205 seats till 8:40 PM. The BJP leads the tally with 80 seats, followed closely by JD(U) at 67. The RJD has secured 20 seats.

Bihar Deputy CM Vijay Kumar Sinha hailed the NDA’s sweeping mandate, calling it “the win of Biharis, their respect and esteem.” Taking aim at rivals, he said those who “made Bihari an abuse” have been taught a lesson, as all sections of society backed the double-engine government for “faster development.”
Sinha credited PM Narendra Modi and CM Nitish Kumar for the historic performance, reiterating that his prediction of “175–200 seats” has come true. He expressed gratitude to voters, saying they have “increased the respect of the people of Bihar” with this record victory.
After the Bihar mandate, PM Modi declared that the result has created significant momentum for the party in several upcoming poll-bound states, specifically setting his sights on West Bengal. The Prime Minister said that today's win has "energised BJP workers in Kerala, Tamil Nadu, Puducherry, Assam, and West Bengal." He then drew a direct connection to Bengal, asserting, "And yes, as the Ganga flows from Bihar to Bengal, Bihar has also paved the way for the BJP’s victory in Bengal."
PM Modi concluded with a strong promise to the people of the state, assuring them that the BJP will "uproot ‘Jungle Raj’ from West Bengal as well."
PM Modi concluded his victory address by evoking a strong sense of national pride. The address finished amid loud 'Vande Mataram' and 'Bharat Mata ki Jai' chants.
The PM expressed his final gratitude to the Bihar electorate, then specifically mentioned a historical commemoration: "I once again express my gratitude to every voter of Bihar. This year marks the 150th anniversary of Vande Mataram..."
Prime Minister launched a blistering attack on the Congress party, coining the acronym 'MMC' to describe its alleged political agenda and even predicting a major split within the party ranks. Modi said: "Today, the Congress has become MMC- Muslim League Maoist Congress and the entire agenda of the Congress now revolves around this, and therefore, within the Congress as well, a separate faction is emerging that is uncomfortable with this negative politics...I fear that there could be another major split in the Congress..."
In a significant development, Tej Pratap Yadav, the elder son of RJD chief Lalu Prasad, has lost the Mahua assembly seat in Vaishali district, finishing a distant third. Yadav contested under the banner of his newly launched Janashakti Janata Dal (JJD), making the contest a high-stakes family rivalry.
The seat was clinched by Sanjay Kumar Singh of the LJP (Ram Vilas), who won with a substantial margin. The sitting RJD MLA, Mukesh Kumar Raushan, finished second, splitting the Yadav family vote and ultimately defeating his former party colleague.
Tej Pratap Yadav had previously won this seat on an RJD ticket in the 2015 elections, making his defeat in the 2025 contest a major setback for his independent political ambitions.
Bihar Chief Minister Nitish Kumar took to X following the NDA's massive mandate in the Bihar Legislative Assembly Elections-2025 and thanked the state's voters and credited the alliance's unity for the win. "The people of the state have expressed their confidence in our government by giving us a massive majority. For this, I bow to all the esteemed voters of the state, and express my heartfelt gratitude and thanks," the CM said.
