Devdutta Majhi, in an interview with ABP Ananda, shared his joyous experience upon learning about his results. He said that his mother was the first to receive the news over the phone. Devdutta had high aspirations and aimed to secure a position among the top 10 performers in the exam. He also told that he wants to study in IIT.

In the management performance, private schools recorded the highest of 97.38% pass percentage. The aided schools recorded a 92.24% pass percentage while the lowest of 87.45% was recorded by government schools.
In the capital city Chennai overall 45,670 students appeared for the exams. Of the total, 40,708 passed the exams. Chennai recorded a pass percentage of 89.14%.
The highest pass percentage was recorded in Perambalur (97.69%) followed by Sivagangai (97.53%). In Perambalur, 8,039 students attended the exams of which 7,852 students passed the exams.
The lowest pass percentage was recorded in Ranipet. The district recorded 79.43%.

"This is for the information of all concerned that the Results of Madhyamik Pariksha (S.E.), 2023, will be announced by the Hon'ble President of the Board on 19th May 2023, at 10:00 am through a press conference," reads the official Press note shared by the Board earlier.

This year, a total of 6,98,628 students registered for the Class 10 examinations. The decline in WBBSE Madhyamik registrations (from over 10 lakh in 2022 to 6.98 lakh this year) could be attributed to students feeling unprepared for the board exams due to online classes, as mentioned by WBBSE president Ramanuj Ganguly.
In 2022, the overall pass percentage for the WBBSE Madhyamik exams was 86.60%. A total of 11,18,821 students appeared for the exam.
In 2021, the WBBSE 10th Board examinations were canceled due to the second wave of the coronavirus pandemic. Instead, the board assessed the students based on internal evaluations and promoted all of them. A 100% pass rate was reported for that year. In 2020, the examinations were conducted before the lockdown, and the pass rate was reported to be 86.34%, slightly higher than in 2019.
